  • Rissy Update

Praise God!  Rissy hasn’t had any outcome from her accident except a very sore muscle in the small of her back.  She hasn’t had any blood in her urine and there is no bruising.

The whole thing left me shaken and I wasn’t good for much of anything, yesterday.  I went out to the garage freezer and ended up leaning against the freezer crying.  She really scared me.  I felt numb most of the day and kept checking her to be sure she was doing well.  I gave her a hug later, while I was eating dinner last night, and started crying again while I held her.

When she didn’t breath, didn’t cry, couldn’t make eye contact (eyes were glazed over), and didn’t move, I was so afraid.  I realized she might have broken her back as I held her upright in a standing position.  Dumb!  I felt helpless and like I was doing everything wrong . . . and *I* have medical training!

I finished the book I was reading and started a new one.  Anything to get my mind off of Rissy.

So, today is a new day and she seems to be only bruised or sore INSIDE.

Thank you EVERYONE who prayed.  Those prayers meant so much to me!

We’re home today, Rissy resting, Luci staying off of her sore leg and watching what she eats, Annamarie taking her ear medicine and watching what SHE eats, and me trying to remember what a normal day was like!

I’m roasting a turkey breast and 3 turkey legs for our Super Bowl celebration later.  I forgot the sweet potatoes or yams.  Oh well, I may do mashed white potatoes and turkey gravy.

That’s about it from here.  Thanks again to each one of your who took your time to pray.

    Be Blessed  ~

  • I’m so glad to hear Rissy is doing well. I would have been scared too! That’s your little girl!

  • Praise God she is doing fine. Those kind of scares do stay with you for awhile! When my daughter was about 4yrs. old her and her brother were jumping on the bed and she went flying off, hit the floor and was knocked out cold–it was terrifying! I still “feel” that “feeling” every time I think about it!

Hope you have a good day of recuperating on this superbowl Sunday! Blessings to you all!

p.s. Rissy looks mighty fetching in that cowboy hat!

  • praise to God for nothing serious being wrong! i was just wondering, is it possible that she was so shocked herself that she froze like that? I know that is probably way out there, but i have a reletive that used to do that when she was a kid.It would scare the crap out of them with her being unrsponsive and it was really draining emotionally on evryone involved! Don’t be hard on yourself … you are a great mommy!

Yes, Sarah, I think that is exactly what happened – in retrospect. I think she hurt so bad she wasn’t able to process things and just quit breathing while her head was a sea of pain screaming “I hurt! I hurt!”

I almost stopped breathing right along with her! I’m always wonderful in an emergency and fall apart afterward. This, by far, had the longest after affect on me!

  • I am so glad that Rissy is doing OK today.

And glad to hear that the other two are being relatively quiet for them and resting their maladies.

I told ya I bet Ms. Luci was having growing pains So many folks think that growing pains are when they don’t react on the emotional level they think they should about something, but it is a real thing that they feel.

Now get ready for a growth spurt and too short dresses and skirts.

  • Whoa. I hadn’t seen your previous post. So glad she’s okay. Those are the times we moms need super strength and reassurance that we’re doing our job. Don’t blow away!

  • I’m so glad she’s okay!

  • I only just read about Rissy’s accident. I don’t know why but my xanga subs have stopped coming through email… “/ I’ll have to look into that.

so glad to read she’s okay ~ I’m sure she will be sore for a few days.. but hopefully nothing lasting. Bless her little heart. She’s such a cutie ~ I love her cowboy hat and laughed when I saw the torn side. Why is it every kids straw cowboy hat is always torn in some spot like that !? :)

Take care Cherylyn~ Hope you have a great Monday.

  • I am so glad Rissy is ok! I know when my husband saw me hit the kitchen floor (knocking my face on the kitchen cupboard on the way down) he said that image is forever ingrained in his mind.  I am glad she is all right.  I am praying for peace for your whole family today!
