  • Despite The Fact

Despite the fact I told everyone on Xanga I was watching my health and taking good care of myself . . .

Despite the fact I mentioned, a few days ago, the girls and I received flu shots for this season . . .

Despite the fact I was fine on Wednesday . . .

    I’m not fine today (Friday).

On Wednesday, we took a lunch break from school and I had some really fun things planned for the afternoon.

    Music lessons and mosaic art.

After lunch I felt “wierd” and couldn’t put my finger on what was wrong.  I basically didn’t want to do ANYTHING.   Not one single thing.

I cancelled school for the rest of the day.

I laid on the sofa, read a book, and ended up falling into a very deep sleep.

By the early evening hours I was so ill, I couldn’t speak or think.  My body ached, my throat was getting scratchy, and my nose was congested.

I stayed in bed yesterday and tried to read (when I could concentrate).

    Rissy’s sypmtoms worsened.

She and I slept in the master bedroom, last night, and Jesse slept in Rissy’s room.

Rissy and I are going to the doctor, in a few hours.

Despite it “feeling like” a flu, I figured it was not.  After all, I had a flu shot.

That’s when I called the doctor, asked if there was a prescription of something they could call in for us, told them I was too sick to go to the doctor’s office, but they said they’d HAVE TO see us to treat us.

And, that’s when they told me,

“THE FLU SHOT DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU WON’T GET THE FLU!
AND . . . IT DOESN’T MEAN IF YOU *DO* GET THE FLU IT WILL GO AWAY IN LESS TIME.”

So, remind me, please, why do we bother to get a flu shot each year?

    Pray for us, and y’all

    Be Blessed  ~

  • I about died laughing at the last paragrah there. Every year I struggle with do we get it or don’t we … and so we never do. However you have been Ill and so you need it. Well the nthis morning I was watching the news and it was on there how they are having to do more studdies because kids …( I can’t remember what the age group was) but they are having seziers and etc …Hence we will not be gtetting it for awhile. Why if we are just going to get sick anyway?

Prayers that no one else gets it and for a speedy recovery!

  • Ugh… Yet another confirmation that we won’t be getting it…. ever….
Hope you feel better soon, & Rissy too!

  • oh, poor thing!! so sorry you’re sick. yeah, that stinks to go to all the trouble to get the shot and STILL get it~ next year just take tons of vitamin c and drink plenty of water!!! :) get better SOON.

have missed you around friend~ i’m just getting back into visiting everyone’s blog more these days. it’s amazing how much you miss in just a few weeks!

  • Oh, so sorry. I will be praying for you both with great empathy as I am in the same boat. I coughed so much last night that my whole body aches. Feel better!

  • Sorry you are sick.  What the heck………why do they not tell you that before you get the shot.  I got one and hubby did not.   Prayers for you and Rissy.

  • Oh CP I hope that you and Rissy feel better very soon.  Hope that Jesse and the other girls don’t get it too.

  • We don’t get the flu shot. Never have. Most years we don’t get the flu. There was one noteable year we DID get the flu–Dh and myself both at the same time. It was terrible, esp. as we had two younger kids in the home. That was also our “Job Year” when we were under severe spiritual attack from every quarter. I attribute our coming down with the flu partially to that, and partially also due to the fact that we had weakened our immune systems by spraying under our trailer for spiders due to the fact that I’d almost died from a spider bite earlier in the year. We focus on handwashing, lots of Vit C and D . . . and gnerally keeping our immune systems healthy with lots of fresh fruits and veggies . . .

Having said all that . . . you have my utter, deepest sympathies and I hope you and Rissy feel better FAST. Flu totally stinks. And every other bad word you can think of to describe it!!
