The Week at a Glance
I’m trying so hard to write more than once a week. The days are zinging by and I’m not even teaching school.
Yesterday I planned the rest of the summer’s Bible and art lessons. I am halfway through our music lesson planning. We’ll start back to summer school on Monday.
And . . . yesterday, poor Rissy came home with a horrible sunburn. I kicked myself for not putting lotion on her before, she went out in the sun. Another case of me being preoccupied with other things and not focusing.
I’m so glad our girls don’t wear shorts. She had a sleeveless dress on, so much of her body was protected from the sun’s rays.
Monday, after I thought I had all day to read, I realized I needed to be at the physical therapist’s office in less than an hour (30 minutes away!). That day didn’t turn out to be so great, after all.
While there, Annamarie looked worse and worse and we realized she had the bug Rissy,Luci, and me had a week or so ago. She’s been in bed ever since Monday. She said she is feeling better today.
Yesterday, Luci had one of her famous fits. It was just awful and I lost the battle, not knowing how to handle it.
Spanking doesn’t work – she’d be black and blue if I gave her a spanking during all of her outbursts.
I sent her to her room (waaay down at the end of the hall) but her high pitched, ear piercing screams were easily heard in the kitchen. She fell asleep afterward (I’m sure she was exhausted) and I told her she needed stay in her room for the rest of the day, or until her Dad came home.
Yesterday REALLY rattled my nerves, which is rare. I normally do much better with her.
I had a hard time falling sleep, last night. I was praying a lot for others and our own family. And I was praying about my m-i-l coming to live with us. One thought led to another, which left me an extensive “To Do” list today!
Rissy finally learned to ride her 2 wheeler bike yesterday. That is how she got a sunburn. I know my children are well past the age when riding a 2 wheeler is expected, but they have never had the opportunity to ride anywhere that was safe. I think they are more aware of traffic, now, and they’ve been practicing on our street.
Be Blessed ~
P.S. We have one dog who is in lots of trouble. Look where I found her!!!!!
BAD DOGGY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aw… poor Rissy!
Sunburns can hurt badly! I have fair skin and burn very easily so I have experienced it.
I keep a bottle of the green aloevera gel with Licodaine (for numbing) in my fridge.
The coolness helps, the aloevera heals, and the Licodaine takes away the pain!
You can find it in the pharmacy section of WalMart- look for the green gel!
Love you all!
Tina
I am experiencing the flight of time, as well. I really don’t know where it goes! You know the Bible speaks of the days being shortened before the second coming of Christ. I have seriously wondered if the 24 hour days that we have are as long as the days were when I was a girl! Hope all in your household get better soon.
Love,
Judy
I’m curious.. have you ever tried filming Luci during one of her fits and showing it to her? I had a friend who did that and it apparently had a strong effect on her daughter. Once she saw her behavior in action, she seemed to gain more self control, almost like it gave her a mental picture of her enemy. I don’t know, just thought I’d ask if you’d heard of it.
So sorry about Rissy’s sunburn. I’d heard taking a baby asprin and rubbing aloe on it helps a lot. Hope she heals quickly.
Don’t you love those days when everything seems peachy and then-poof here comes the whirlwind! We ‘re dealing with sunburns too-mostly Freeman who scorched his shoulders in the boat on Saturday.
I’m so out of the loop….how’s your health?
Just checking in on you all! Hope that soon things settle so you can breath again a bit easier. In the meantime, I know God will love to help give you the “Eagles Wings” that times like this require. (And I so do get the whole not messing with spanking thing!)
