A NewWeek, A New Attitude
Thank you (EVERYONE) for giving me a pat on the back last Friday! I feel like I was a cranky old lady after rereading Friday’s post. But, I guess we all have a short fuse, at one time or another! Saturday morning, we finished up the lessons we didn’t do on Friday. The break helped them, AND me! There were two Bible lessons that I felt convicted **NOT** to teach, on Friday. Hard to be in a black mood and teach about God’s peace and gentleness!!!!
They absorbed everything much better on Saturday.
When in church, yesterday, their heads all popped up when they heard the words, “Rebekkah brought water to the camels.” FINALLY! Something from the pulpit made sense to them!

We didn’t do anything as planned yesterday.
Jesse preferred to take me out to lunch, rather than me cook a big meal on Mother’s Day. I’ll make the roast chicken dinner tomorrow and just use the formal table on Tuesday, instead of Sunday, this week. If we are REALLY careful, I might not have to wash the tablecloth again before next Sunday.
We went to a Mexican restaurant we were fairly sure wouldn’t be crowded. It wasn’t. Unfortunately, I’m going through another spell of not being able to taste much of my food. I had ordered a large lunch combo plate with the intention of boxing half of it up and eating it for Monday’s lunch. I brought it home, but I don’t know that it will taste any better today. The Pepsi, on the other hand, tasted great!
I baked a French vanilla cake, with fluffy strawberry frosting, to serve at our Sunday meal. We still ate *that* when Stephanie and JanaLyn came over to see me. I served each slice of cake with some fresh strawberries on the side. It was very pretty and tasted good, too.

JanaLyn brought me 3 roses, someone at church gave me a rose, and then someone at the Mexican restaurant gave me a rose. They make a nice little bouquet in a crystal juice glass on the sill over my sink.

The biggest surprise of the weekend was receiving my new den furniture, a day early. I was in such a defeated mood on Friday, and then my new furniture arrived. I hate to sound materialistic because my mood *did* pick up, after the furniture was settled in the den. However, I’m not in a habit of going out and buying something, every time I’m in a black mood. This just happened by coincidence. And, I was very glad it did!
It’s perfect Absolutely, P-E-R-F-E-C-T!!!!!!!!! It looks better than I thought it would. It’s VERY comfortable and the only adjustment we have to make is to the smaller size. We had MASSIVE furniture before, purchased when we lived in a house with a HUGE den. We will give the old set to Stephanie. These cushions are smaller and they feel dinky, but I’m sure I’ll adjust to that quickly!!!
Fortunately, the ottoman to the old set will work with this set.

I woke up this morning and had a cup of coffee in one of my china cups. I’m relaxing before the busyness of the week starts up. I have my first physical therapy appointment this afternoon.
This morning, the girls saw the pancake mix box on the counter and asked for waffles. I had planned to wake up on Sunday and make pancakes.
I should know better. I don’t have full function of my brain and body until after 10am!!! Who was I kidding – waffles before church????
Yeah, right!
This morning, I got out “Wava the Waffle Maker” and the girls had their waffles!

So here we are at the beginning of a new week – with new resolve! The girls new textbooks also arrived on Friday and I deposited them in the storage cupboards in Rissy’s room. I’m going to wait to pull them out, just before we resume those subjects in fall. It will be a surprise for me to see what subject matter the next year will hold for us.
This summer, I’m teaching music and art. The girls will learn about landscape and portrait paintings. I also have “Peter and The Wolf” CD and a great book about each instrument in an orchestra. I sure hope I do it justice when teaching!
Growing up, my family was musical and well rounded, so to speak, and I’m trying to expose my daughters to a variety of music. The TV in the den is currently set on the classical music station. Well, it was. Rissy just turned it to standards and swing music.
Since I don’t have the girls in an educational co-op group, I have to be creative with art and music. In another year, I’d like to tackle foreign language. German. I have a great curriculum waiting in the cupboard of books with a few CD’s. I’m thinking Luci might not be ready, since she’ll be 8 this summer.
Maybe I should start sooner.
I don’t know. I’ll have to pray about that one!
I hope everyone had a nice week and did something a little different as a treat.
Be Blessed ~
P.S. Rissy just switched the music back to classical – I prefer that over the other . The swing music is too much commotion in the morning, classical is more relaxing!

weekends are helpful when homeschooling! Yay, for new furniture. That couch is wonderful. Pretty and comfy looking. Happy Mother’s day a day late.
Your sofa is lovely! I’m waiting for the day that we can buy something new & not have it worn out in no time… something that won’t HAVE to hide stains. We still have a sofa that we bought when one of the boys was little. I’ve stitched it up several times. Every other sofa or loveseat we have has been given to us. I’m okay w/ that… for now!
Sounds like you had a lovely weekend!
I love your new living room furniture!
I have JB’s new books bought and he is finishing up his tests for 4th grade. Since he is a wee bit behind we will go straight into the next grade. He is motivated to hurry and finish his books so he gets a wee break! I did find a achievement test I want to do with him first to see where I’m lacking in my teaching. In case you need it, http://www.christianlibertypress.com/proddetail.asp?prod=TS-CAT01
Have a great day!

maybe a little swing in the afternoon…it sounds fun!
The sofa is beautiful! It looks lovely and comfortable. It’s nearly 11 PM here, but I wanted to stop by and say Hi! How did your PT appointment go?

Just got home. It was okay. A massage, a few *minor* exercises with my arms (for my upper back), and then ice on my back for 10 minutes.
I have been remiss in getting around to some of my favorite Xanga friends and I have missed some of your posts
. I will be reading today and catching up. I love your sofa, it’s beautiful ~~~so elegant. I pray you had a wonderful Mother’s Day. Blessings, love and continued prayers, Jill
