Laundry Day – Bed Linens
I’m already liking the new schedule and Chore Packs we designed for our family, last week. The girls have stepped up to the plate and are doing their new chores without a hitch.
I wasn’t sure what was supposed to be happening today, so I quickly looked at the “month at a glance” calendar page that we keep next to the Chore Packs. Aha! Today is the day Mom’s & Dad’s sheets and Luci’s sheets are supposed to be washed. Even *I* am benefiting from this new organization!
I stripped our bed and gathered all of the sheets and set the washer on “sanitize,” because that makes me feel better when crawling into a clean bed at night!
Chirper grabbed a cozy spot, and I found him

We had a small amount of schoolwork, this morning. We are looking at another 6 to 7 weeks in our books, and some have less. Language is almost all over with, so we don’t do that everyday. Today was midweek spell test, two pages in math, and two Bible chapters from our Bible curriculum (which I love, by the way!).
We were late getting started, and early finishing up!
Someone turned the TV’s music station on, and Classical music is wafting throughout my house.
Things are in order and I’m guessing our new chores assignments are working well. I need to catch up the books for Jesse’s lawn service. I remember giving up that chore (this time) last year, because I could no longer concentrate.
***************************************************************
Our new maid hasn’t come except once. She has a grandfather who fell, broke a hip, and was hospitalized. She has been busy getting family members lined up to care for him, now that he’s home. I couldn’t really tell if she will work or not. She has sure sounded enthusiastic and apologetic about her circumstances. Maybe a good sign?????
**************************************************************
The girls have an eye doctor appointment this week. It’s hard to believe it has been a whole year since that was done. I remember, JoAnn went with Jesse to the exam, and I went with him to pick up their glasses. I had just started my chemo therapy. What a difference a year makes!
****************************************************************
I baked a yellow & cinnamon cake in a tube pan, yesterday. It was another new recipe and, fortunately, another hit! I’m really enjoying testing my cooking wings. We’ve only had one or two new recipes we didn’t like.
****************************************************************
I had heard about a homeschooling curriculum called, “My Father’s World,” from a friend’s blog. I ordered some of their art and music books/CDs this morning. I will use those this summer, when I teach the subjects that are everyone’s favorites!
I saw, in a BJU catalog, something called, “Vacation Stations” and ordered them for each child. Each book is set between grade levels and is used to keep children from loosing their skills over the summer months. I thought I’d give these new “brands” a try!
*****************************************************************
Everyone around here has puffed cheeks, today. Not the mumps; but, bubble gum!! I found an old, unopened bag in the pantry and it’s pretty hard. The girls don’t care. It’s gum, and it blows bubbles!
*****************************************************************
I had some party food left over from Annamarie’s birthday party. A half of a box of quiche in cheese and cheese broccoli flavors. That was what we had for lunch to free up some space in the freezer. The box was huge and the actual contents were tiny! It’s like getting rid of two boxes of ice cream. The space it took was enormous.
****************************************************************
I need to keep moving along. I can get everything done in a day, if I plod slowly through the list of chores. I have one more dryer load of sheets to go, and I’ll be done with my laundry day of bed linens, until next Wednesday. Then it will be Rissy’s and Annamarie’s turn!

One last picture . . .
Did I ever tell you, Chirper sticks out his tongue when he’s really relaxed? He’s lost almost all of his tiny front teeth, and there’s nothing to hold his tongue back in his mouth. This is a typical picture of how he usually looks!
Be Blessed ~

Nice to go through the day with you Cherylyn. A year does make a lot of difference. I praise God for His healing in your life and you can enjoy the gift of an ordinary day. ~love Dawne
Organization is always a blessing!
I was going to ask what you do to “sanitize” the sheets and towels…is it just a setting on the washer?
ugh, after all the work we have done getting Grandpa’s house ready for rental, mine is in huge need!!

Yes, sanitize is a washer option, but I also use bleach. The sanitize setting heats the hottest of water even hotter and also runs 1 hour and 45 minutes. I use Borax to give the laundry a boost sometimes, too. I’m a bit of a germophobic, especially after this past year!
I can’t fathom you going along slowly at anything. Slow is the setting on *my* hiney, not yours!
Chirper is a doll! Aragorn let me cuddle with him and nap this afternoon for the first time ever…too sweet!
Hi Cherylyn!!! I feel like I haven’t been here in forever (which I haven’t)! Please forgive me. I saw your sweet comment on my son’s birthday post and thought, ‘I need to go visit her’. Our computer crashed a couple weeks ago and I had my favorite blogs saves in my “favorites”. Needless to say that was deleted. I couldn’t remember your Xanga site but then remembered I had a Xanga and when I went there luckily I still had a message in there from awhile ago (from you) so I could find your blog again. That story was wayyyy longer than it needed to be. ☺ I hope you and the family are doing well and I’ll come back and read your other posts and catch up. Thanks for contacting me and I miss you ~ ♥
oh! how far you’ve come this past year! your courage inspires me! BLESSINGS on you!
i LOVE the up-close and personal smiling faces of your girlies! adorable!
I like to think of those busy little bees at your house blowing bubbles and going about their work!
I’ve used BJU’s “Vacation Station” with some of my children some years, and really did like them! It’s broken into manageable amounts–just right for summer days and very good for review! I hope you like them as well as I did! (Now where’s the one on my level?!)
