Merry Maids!
Still busy, here – obviously . . . it’s almost time for me to go to bed!!! I’m still trying to put things back in place as they once were P.P. (pre painting)!!!!
We only did the basics in school, today. Spelling tests, 2 pages in math, and 1 page in language.
Then, we had a major meeting – the children and I.
My less than taupe walls!!!!!!!!!!!!!Jesse and I have been talking about assigning some extra chores. They’ve done so well with their Chore Packs and, we think, they are ready to have some things added. Plus, the weather is changing and porches need to be swept, etc.
We listed everything that needed to be assigned to someone. Then we discussed possibilities of sharing chores and things that needed to be given to the same person each day.
It was interesting to see what they chose or volunteered to do! I would never have guessed that some chores would be appealing – like sweeping the porch! The car needs attention. Since it’s a big Suburban, one girl picks up the trash from the floors, the door pockets, and seat pockets. Another girl will clean the front seats, dashboard, and steering wheel. The third girl will clean the doors and seats of the second and third row.
And . . . they were EXCITED about this!!!!! LOL!!!!!
We took a break for lunch, then started assigning new chores. Some things were minor additions, like if someone spot cleans the kitchen floor with 409, they NOW have to spot clean the cupboard doors, too.
We had to taken into account the fact we are now having “formal” Sunday dinners with the china. One girl sets out the dishes, another the silverware, and another the salt, pepper, butter, etc. Then, that stuff ALL has to be cleaned up and put away. They were really, VERY enthusiastic about the whole thing!
Another responsibility will be to look at a new chore calendar (a one month page) that I’ve prepared, to see what day they are supposed to give me their laundry and ON THAT DAY that child is my “Laundry Buddy.” I will teach them how to clean spots, bleach the whites, sterilize the towels & sheets, how to properly fold, etc.
The concept of a monthly calendar for them to check to see who rotates on emptying the dishwasher, laundry days (one for their clothes, another for their sheets), and the Sunday dishes clean up routine will prove to be successful or a disaster!
The green walls are perfect with the green leaves in the bedspread!
See Chirper in front of my pillow?I was just happy they were so willing to help and I heard not ONE WORD of complaining. You might say I literally have Merry Maids!!!!!!
Well, Jesse just got home and I want to spend some time with him. He’s had a long day and plans for another long one on Saturday. We kinda like him, around here!!
This morning, he and Rissy were “shopping together on eBay” and having some father/daughter time!Be Blessed ~

How lovely to have such helpful, cheerful girls! You are indeed blessed! I know that didn’th appen by accident, though.
Yeah for Merry Maids!
There’s a lot of things I miss about having kids around the house and one thing in particulare is the help with the chores! As they started to move out one by one I realized what a big help they were. I still have my youngest at home and he pitches in but it’s not quite the same as a group of kids dividing and conquering the chores all at once.
Glad to hear the house is coming back together!
