  • China Cups and TV

I used a new/old (I've owned it forever, but never used it) china cup today.

I enjoy having a choice and I like the feel of thin china, when I drink my coffee!  It's a silly thing with me, I guess. I just *REALLY* enjoy pretty dishes.

Mine don't all match.  I could never have been able to afford such elegant things, if they came in a set; but, watching Ebay, has proven to be profitable in the building of my china cup collection.  I've been collecting them for a good many years (maybe 15) and that's why I'm using them.

FINALLY, I'm enjoying using AND looking at them!

I polished the rest of my silver this morning.  I did half of it yesterday afternoon, but it really caused pain in my upper back, from bending (ever so slightly) over the sink.  I pulled out two large silver platters/trays (wedding gifts from a long time ago) and I think I'm going to use one in the center of the dining room table with one of my crystal candelabra on top.

Jesse bought me two candelabrum when we bought the dining room table.  I had admired them in the store, so he went back and bought two.  His cousin worked there as a manager, so he didn't pay anything close to full price.  Hooray for relatives in the right places!

I tried to take a few pictures this morning of the china cabinet's contents, before the sun got to the dining room windows, but there is still a lot of glare because this house has so many windows.  Probably, night time will be the best shots.

I made my birthday cake layers this morning and they're cooling on the racks, as I type.  I will wrap them and get them in the freezer, but wait until Monday to frost the cake.  I call it my "Triple Fudge Cake " and it's made me famous with family and friends who have tasted it.

It's a dark fudge cake with dark fudge frosting (and lots of it, too!).  This is one of those cakes that tastes better if it is kept in the refrigerator.  Jesse doesn't like chocolate, but for some reason he really likes my triple fudge cakes.  When it is refrigerated, it tastes like fudge candy.  VERY rich!

Our painter/friend is here again.  He showed up bright and early this morning and has taken over our bedroom.  I never knew there were so many things I needed from my bedroom and bathroom!  I've already interrupted him 3 times!

Every time Jesse locks the door to the garage, I almost rip my arm off tugging the door knob and expecting it to open.  I leave it unlocked during the day because my pantry, freezer, and another refrigerator are out there.  When Jesse locks the door, it makes me realize how many trips I make out there every day!

    **********************************************************************************************************

The painter showed me the two paint splotches on the top of the cans and said they may not show enough difference to notice, just like the taupe.  The paper paint samples show a HUGE difference in the greens.  It will be another interesting paint experience, no doubt!

It's a beautiful days.  The girls are playing in the back yard and I have the a/c turned a little cooler than usual in the back of the house, because the painter has the door closed and it gets warm in there.  I'm chilly sitting here at my desk!

    ****************************************************************************************

Rissy just finished making oatmeal raisin cookies for her Dad.  She popped them in the oven, said, "Mom, I'm going outside."   I went to the kitchen to turn my cake layers onto a cooling rack and found her dirty mixing bowl in the sink, half filled with water.  I wondered why the second cookie sheet was on the counter top and looked in the oven to see one huge glob of cookies melting into a square!

I called her back in and explained, 1)  When you are baking cookies, you can't put them in the oven and leave the house, 2)  I don't want to clean up someone else's mess, especially since I had just cleaned the sink 5 minutes ago, and, 3)  Don't ever try to bake all of your cookie dough on one cookie sheet, again.  I told her, this was a lesson to teach her, so don't do it again.

They are excited because Stephanie and JanaLyn are coming over this afternoon to give me a birthday gift.  JanaLyn and the girls always have such a good time together - it's a treat for both families.

When I saw the spot in the bedroom where the television had been moved, I had to laugh.  I've teased Jesse several times about having such a large TV in the bedroom.  It's huge - a former den TV.  When I saw its temporary location, this morning, I wondered if Jesse thought he needed that TV moved a bit closer to the bed, so it would seem even larger!

    LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Be Blessed  ~

  • That's close up for sure. Smack dab!

I decided to take a cue from you and got out my good china for Easter, it was nice. I think you've given me the painting bug as well because I painted my pantry today. The one thing I haven't been doing is baking. I'm trying to cut back on the sweets and I'm a little shocked at how much I crave them, I read cake and I want cake!! I'll have to be satisfied with just reading about yours. Hope you had a good visit with your girls! Take care~Dawne

  • Wow! That chocolate cake sure sounds "chocolatey!" It's so interesting how different people are. I love sipping my coffee from a nice, thick mug. I love the warm, substantial feel of it in my hands. The world would be boring if we were all the same, huh? Hope you have a good Sunday, and a wonderful birthday tomorrow! HUGS!

  • First, thank you for praying for my friend's brother.  It's appreciated so much.  I've another prayer request going out for my daughter.  I don't know why updating Facebook is so easier to stay with than Xanga.

I love your china cup collection, and you're tempting me to start one of my own.  And your triple chocolate cake (or was it fudge?) sounds wonderful.  I'm open to recipes if you're open to sharing. <G>  I'm not sure when your birthday is, but I hope it is absolutely wonderful!

Have a pleasant Sunday!  Blessings, Leslie

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!  Hope you have a spectacularly wonderful day!

  • What a beautiful collection -- do enjoy them. And do enjoy your birthday -- I pray that your day brings so many smiles and joys and hope for the next year -- blessings as you rejoice in all that God has done and will do in your life! :)

  • May the Lord bless you abundantly! Happy Birthday to you!
