    I'm so sad.  Jesse took Stormy to the vet (after a long night of vomiting, despite the medication to stop it) and it was decided we should put her to sleep.

    I think I knew.  I had such a bad sense about her sickness.

    The vet was reluctant to say what he really thought, but (as Jesse said) he beat around the bush about expensive and heroic measures that offered no guarantee.

    She would have been six years old in April.  Not very old.  She had come from a farm where the entire two litters of kittens and their mothers were killed by coyotes.

    So, she definitely had a longer life being with us and was treated well, even pampered, by us.

    She slept with Jesse on the sofa last night (he and Luci had a vomiting bug), and she went to my closet, early this morning, after throwing up again.  She slept on the floor on my soft bathrobe and a fluffy pink blanket that was "SO VERY STORMY"!!!

    It's a sad day for us.  She slept in Rissy's room a lot and Rissy isn't taking the news well.

    I'm praying, now, that our hearts mend and we can move on.  I've cleaned up the areas she was in (disinfected them) and have taken away her bowls and other painful reminders.

    Such a heavy feeling.  It's hard for me, but even harder to see my children hurting.

  • As soon as I saw your heading, I knew it wasn't good news!  I am so sorry and am hurting for all of you.  I am shedding tears as well, as it's such a difficult time and so sad.  She had a wonderful life with you and try and remember all the good times.  The pictures were adorable and I always loved stopping by and seeing them.  God Bless you all and may he heal your hurting hearts with wonderful memories.  Love and prayers, Jill

  • Cherylyn - You all need a break from bad news for a while...a LONG while!!!!!  I'm thinking about all of you and truly my heart breaks and I know what you mean about it being hard for you, but watching the kids be sad is the worst.  Take care, friend, and it sounds like Stormy definitely didn't have a Stormy life - it was full of Sunshine thanks to all of you!! 

  • I am sorry for your loss Cherylynn. I know it is not easy, I only went through it a year ago with my cat Oreo. We know in our hearts when the end is near, it doesn't make it any easier and the grieving time is not necessarily shortened just because it is an animal. May the memories you shared in pictures give you and your family much comfort in the weeks to come. Maybe you could put a nice photo montage together and frame it at some point!!

  • Such lovely pictures of your beautiful cat. We have cats too, always. Many have passed, and now Dirk, a black Thai prince, is terminally ill...I know your heart is broken.

    Only another little dear one can follow in her footsteps...cleaning doesn't really help against your sadness. Time will..in time.

  • I am so sorry for you all--it is a very sad time! We had to have our guy put down about 5 1/2 years ago who we'd had with us for 13 years! We weren't even sure if we wanted another one, but now we have 3. We still miss our Tigger, though!
