  • Cold and A Cold

I'm still here in the cold, with "my cold" - or whatever you call this "throat thing" that's hanging on!

Still no voice, and still don't have our computer back.

Last week, I agonizingly went through all of the pictures from February 2008 through January 2009 and loaded them onto a Wal-Mart account, to be printed at a later date.  I figured I was protecting those pictures in case the computer crashed.  I've already accidentally erased them from my camera's card.

Well, the idea was a good one, but, yesterday, when I went to pull up the pictures, to order prints, I found I HAD NO PICTURES, nor an account set up with Wal-Mart!!!!  Have no idea what I did wrong, but my computer pictures definitely need to be saved along with my documents before the repair guy dumps stuff and reloads our computer!!!  I'd hate to loose birthday parties and a year's worth of our lives on film!  Or "not film" but whatever technology calls camera pictures these days!

I've cleaned up some of the obvious Christmas decorations.  Those of you who have known me for a long time KNOW I leave up the greenery and berries through January.  The stockings, gingerbread man, dining room table centerpiece, and other things are wrapped and back in boxes, to be taken to the garage, to be taken to the attic, to be taken to infinity!

I have thank you notes to write (some to a few of you - you know who you are!) but I can't muster the strength.  Not having a voice, and having children who are taking advantage of that fact, is a handful!  Jesse left for a bit.  He can't stand to be cooped up in the house for more than a day or two!  I don't have the strength to assign the review of schoolwork pages or anything of the kind.  So the natives are running rampant.

Stormy was doing better yesterday, but threw up this morning and again this afternoon.  I called the vet and they said to bring her in tomorrow morning, and they'll try shots and some subcutaneous fluids.  She's lost a lot of weight and just doesn't look good.  I wish I could drive.  As it is, I have to tell Jesse what he needs to do each day.  I'd like so much to be able to whip over to the vet (and other places) and not give him lists "To Do" all the time!

It's cold.  Bitterly cold, and only getting colder.  I think our next shot at receiving snow is Wednesday or Thursday.  I know Thursday is supposed to be down into the single digit temperatures.  Brrrrr!

Our anniversary dinner turned out nice.  Amazingly, I haven't lost my ability to taste (just my desire to eat!).  I took pictures of what I cooked, but will have to wait to show them.

Today I received a book in the mail from eBay, "Desiring God" - John Piper.  Can't wait to get started reading it.  I have several books I'm  reading, something unusual for me to do.  I normally focus on only one.  I don't think I know exactly what I'm in the mood for, so I'm reading several at one time.

Guess that's all in my boring life.    I've been lying on the bed and playing a game on my Nintendo DS to pass the time!  Stormy is there (in the middle of my bed) and I supposed I should go check on her again, poor dear.

    Be Blessed  ~

  • You poor thing, if it's not one thing, it's another!!  One of my new year's resolutions is to organize pictures.  I hope you stay with it because you're inspiring me every time I read something about you doing whatever to your pictures!  Take care and work on getting better ~ you're in my prayers as always.  ♥

  • I have that same cold or throat thing also. I have had it for four days now and nothing seems to stop it. I would suggest for the pictures is put them on a flashdrive/thumbdrive that is the way we do our pictures and every drive has a year or two depending on the size of the drive. Walmarts site is iffy at best for storing pictures on. Hope this helps.

  • I was wondering if you had had any blood work done on Stormy yet? The reason I ask, last year, we notice my cat had lost weight and was not eating a whole bunch, would eat, but did get sick.... and when we took her in at the beginning of January and had the blood work done and got the results she had kidney disease. Just something to ask about. I'll be praying you get better and so does Stormy!!

  • Happy anniversary. Thank you so much for the Roses!!! I'd give some back to you, but don't know how!!! We've had it at 28-below zero this week. Talk about Brrr! Our son in the A.F. is in Monterey, Calif., now living it up before his school starts.

  • Not so boring...just a little under the weather!

It's always good to catch up with you no matter what you're up to. I hope that picture thing gets sorted out and Stormy regains his health! Take care and God Bless~Dawne

  • Hope you feel better again soon!

  • Hello, Friend! I am so sorry you are under the weather. Hubby and I have also been fighting some kind of flu. Mostly it is this hacking coughing! Oh! It's awful, and it goes on and on. Still, I have my voice! Maybe you should find some simple sign language, and teach it to the girls! It could be useful! There is snow falling this morning in Denmark, and it makes the trees look so pretty. It is the wet kind that clings to every branch and twig. I am kinda trapped by it, though as snow and crutches are not a good combination! I have some meetings today, but I have asked the people to come here for them. I hope Stormy will be feeling better soon, and YOU TOO! Just keep the hot tea going, and take care of yourself. Praying for you! HUGS!

  • We have a throat thing going on here too! It's not too bad for me. Only had it since Saturday. It's cold here too!

Looks I'll be playing nurse for the next week as #2 son looks as if he is getting chicken pox!

    Hope Stormy gets better.

    Praying!

  • @Missionfieldof5 - No blood work, yet.  It was another rough night for her.  I'm afraid she may have something as serious as kidney failure.  You can't eat or drink nothing and then repeatedly throw up when you are 7 pounds and expect much good to come of it.  She is a tiny frame of what she used to be.  I have a VERY bad feeling about this whole thing.  I've prayed all I can and asked God to spare her, yet it is in His hands, as sad as His answer may be for me  . . .

  • Dear Cheryln,

I haven't been on Xanga much lately so have sort of lost out on all that's going on in the lives of my friends.  I am so sorry to hear about your throat problem!  And the computer!  I haven't been out much at all lately, so I don't know what I would do without my computer and DVD player.  The past couple of years, I have had trouble concentrating on reading.  The thoughts just don't seem to process or something.  Alzheimer's maybe????

How are you doing otherwise?  Have you been back to the doctor lately?

    May God bless you day!

    Love,

    Judy

  • Hope you feel better soon. Glad you have a DS to fall back on, we got one for Reegan for Christmas and guess who gets just as much fun out of it as her... her dad! =) THey are fun tho!

  • Feel better sweetie!!  I am praying for precious Stormy too!  I am very much looking forward to pics of the food you cooked for your Anniversary Dinner!! :) .  Blessings to you.

  • I hope you feel better.   I will pray for you.  I need to get my pics off my computer to.  I don't do that and if something happened they would be lost forever.

  • I hope you & poor Stormy both get some relief soon!  Take care & God bless1

  • Oh no! No voice and no pictures...of course, the voice will come back but the pictures...I sure hope you can find them.

I got an external storage device from Sam's to upload my pictures onto. It's given me a little peace of mind about them, but still, I think the only way to be safe is to have them printed. And even then, they aren't always safe!

    Feel better.
