  • You Tell Me!

Signs of Christmas peak out from around corners everywhere in our house!
The bottom shelf holds Rissy's Josef birthstone figurines.

I have my total body MRI test this evening.  I go there a bit after 4pm and finish at 7:30pm.  Lots of books and a CD with a preacher reading scriptures will accompany me.

Rather than looking at this as a long boring evening, I'm rejoicing in the time I will have to be alone and read about God's goodness.

The snowmen, on the table, light up.
I found them while cleaning attic boxes!

No long post today.  I'm trying to stay away from my desk and spend time with the family I love!  I'm savoring these last days before Christmas arrives.  I'm burning scented candles and snacking, like a pig, on our baked goods!

The girls have brought out their gifts to each other to decorate the den!

The lady who cleans our house every other week is coming tomorrow.  Jesse is vacuuming right now.  That should make her job easier!  She does all different kinds of things, besides ordinary cleaning.  I may have her put ribbon on the wrapped gifts that are hidden in Jesse's closet.  That way, I won't have to bend over and cause my back muscles to stretch beyond where they want to be kept!!! LOL!

So, instead of me telling *you* stories,

    YOU TELL ME:

    1.  If there was a heavy snow storm, what would be your ideal way to spend the day?

    2.  If you stuff stockings at Christmas, what are some neat ideas you can share for itty, bitty gifts?

My dollar store salt and pepper shakers!

Our shopping is finished (for gifts and for meals) and we have the promise of a winter snow storm moving our way on Wednesday.  Generators are out, wood for alternate heating is cut and brought inside or right outside the back door, and we are enjoying our time together as a family.  We feel so blessed in so many ways!!!!

    Be Blessed  ~

P.S.  Cherie if you are reading this, I just realized you are coming THURSDAY, not tomorrow, to clean!

  • Your house looks wonderful and I wish I was visiting you on Christmas!!  Let's see, if there was a snowstorm, the ideal way for me to spend the day would be to have a fire in the fireplace and either playing games with the kids (which they wouldn't want to - ha ha) or reading a really good book.  And eating snacks all day!  For the kids' stockings, I was at Walgreens and they had their popcorn tins on sale for $4.99 so I figured I'd take the stockings down and lay one across each tin of popcorn.  Kind of boring, but I know they'll be thrilled that someone won't eat all of one kind out of theirs and leave the rest!  I'll be thinking about you tonight during your test - be at peace (which it sounds like you are) and enjoy the time with your family.  You certainly have your priorities straight.  ♥

  • You are probably about 1/2 way through your test...hope all is going well and you are enjoying your quiet time with the Lord.

I get pretty run of the mill stuff for stockings, socks, undearwear, chapstick, toothbrush, gum, chocolates...I used to get them deodorant and other toiletries but now I just get them a giftcard for Shopper's Drugmart, that way they can pick out there own "smelly" stuff of their personal preferance.

We do get snowed in here occasionally and I usually take the day to put my feet up and read and watch old favorite movies we have on dvd and nap...a true day off!

I love those little dollar store treasures!

  • hmm...1.  Snow Day - Hot chocolate, bake cookies, read a book, watch a movie.  2.  Stocking Options at our house - mini bubble bath, kids bath body paints, matchbox cars, chapsticks, shower gel, hand cream, beany baby puppies look so cute peaking over the tops, pocket knife for eldest son, hair stuff for the girls....and my favorite (which I actually didn't do this year)...a Gertrude Hawk Chocolate Pop.  This year I am doing gum instead.  Oh yes, and the traditional ornament for the tree for each of them.

  • Hope your MRI results are good. If we were snowed in I would love being able to sleep in a little for once - this means 7.30am instead of 5am, I would take extra time to spend with the Lord, enjoy having breakfast with my family and spend time sitting around chatting to them - we have so little time in our busy lives to just sit down and chat except on a Sabbath. Would probably want to use the extra time to do some sorting or organizing in the areas of my home that I need their input on - like their closets! Good question...but probably not likely as I live on the campus where I work and I can always plod through the snow to work.

  • I will have to give you questions some thought. As far as the cleaning girl goes... She makes the prettiest bows of anyone I know. Have a blessed evening and a very Merry Christmas!

  • Enjoy! And I'm hoping with you that your MRI results are amazing.

  • Hope the MRI went very well for you!  Have a great holiday, & hope all stay well!
