  • Yay! It’s Monday!

    I don’t know why I enjoy Mondays so much!  I guess it’s because I restore our routine from the spontaneity of the weekend.  I’m sorely a creature of habit and don’t enjoy surprises.  It’s difficult to let go of control and just “let the weekend happen” without *some* sort of plan.  Basically that translates into just another one of my “odd” character flaws – liking Mondays, not the control issue . . . that’s a serious flaw!!!!

    ==============================

    The weekend was relatively uneventful.  Jesse is trying to get his mowers ready for lawn season and one riding mower had to be serviced in the shop.  He has a new trailer (my husband collects shoes and trailers!) and spent some time at a friend’s house installing racks to hold his weed eaters, etc.  I stayed home.  Luci had a sore throat and, despite the nice temperatures, she had to stay inside.  I still have a cough hanging on from my little viral episode a week ago, but feel fine and have all my energy back.  I had to use my asthma inhaler in the middle of the night, last night.  Jesse stayed with the girls yesterday afternoon while I ran to shop for Annamarie’s b-day.  Shopping on the weekend is something I detest, but it couldn’t be avoided.  AND, since I’m not sure if that biopsy will hurt for more than a day or two, I’m doing everything ahead of time.  Anyway, he wouldn’t let the girls play outside while I was gone because of the wind – especially Rissy.  March is the month she has the most respiratory problems.  I think that’s what is bothering me, too.

    ==============================

    I still haven’t put my silky scarf valance back up, nor have I hung the bare rods.  Everything is still sitting on my living room sofa.   I dread the task.  I remember how hard it was to get them “just so” last time!  Meanwhile, I discovered something in the middle of the pile of purple silkiness on the sofa.

    Yeah, that’s Chirper in the middle.  At least his claws are trimmed short!  I may have to wash these before rehanging them.  Washing them isn’t such a bad idea, anyway!  It’s been awhile.

    ===============================

    I bought new rugs for our entry way and kitchen.  The foyer and hallway (off the foyer – Sampson’s hallway) that leads to the kitchen is one color of rugs, and the kitchen rugs match the others, but with a touch of red weave.  Surprise of all surprises . . . Jesse said he really liked them!  He and I usually have similar tastes, but he rarely makes a comment – except a generic one, “This looks nice, babe.”

    I have 2 tan ones for the foyer & foyer hall.                           And, 2 red border and red weave ones for the kitchen.

    I have to seriously clean the kitchen floor before putting down the new carpets.  I think the painter might have dripped dirty water on the tiles.  They have drip or spattered marks here, there, and everywhere, and I figure it has to be from him.  Remember, I haven’t cleaned all week and have given the painter free rein to mess up our entire house!!!  He, pretty much, has lived up to the power given him!

    I’m going to use the old foyer and hallway rugs (oatmeal or beige-ish in color)  in Annamarie’s & Luci’s room on each side of their bed.  All of our carpeting is old & ruined and needs to be replaced.  Area rugs do a nice job of hiding that fact!  I moved my grandparent’s nightstand into their room this weekend, too.  It’s on the side of the bed between the mattress and wall.  A perfect fit, too!

    ========================

    I took some time (on Saturday morning) to plan this week’s school lessons.  So many things come up in our busy lives that I don’t like to plan more than two weeks in advance for fear of messing up the lesson plans!  The painter and several appointments changed the agenda last week.  We finished the core subjects, but studying the Bible and character traits fell by the wayside.  I have guilt over that, since I believe Bible to be the most important, followed by character trait training.  But, the state doesn’t feel the same way and I don’t want to get myself in trouble.  Of course, the state doesn’t require we home school more than 173 days a year, and we school year round.  I’m sure, in the end, they get more days than required.

    ========================

    Rissy took two cute pictures this weekend.  I went to bed early, was reading, and must have dozed off.  I woke up with someone other than my husband in bed with me!

    That’s Chirper asleep on my stomach.  Miss Sushi-Lou appears to be quite comfortable on Jesse’s side of the bed!

    Our bed is a high one, but she has quickly figured out she can stand on the loveseat at the end of our bed and climb onto the bed from it.  She was on Jesse’s quilt and pillow (thankfully NOT MINE!!!) and almost snoring, she was so dead asleep.  Jesse was summoned to look at her in our bed, then he picked her up and placed her down on her blankets on the floor.  It makes me laugh to see how animals copy us!

    ==================================

    I paid bills again on Saturday.  Found I had forgotten to enter a bill into our check book that I had paid.  YIKES!    At least our smaller state tax refund had come in and padded the account for my “oopsy” payment carelessness!  Jesse’s sister called yesterday.  He was on the phone with her when I came back from shopping.  He said she asked how I was doing and he told her, “Fine, I guess.  We got our tax refund in on Friday and she took off.  I haven’t seen her since.”  What a tease!  And, NO, we haven’t gotten the nice federal refund in yet.  AND, it would have to be a whole lot larger for me to take off on a spending spree!!!!

    ==============================

    Today is an overcast day.  It should be another really warm one, but my left knee cap predicts rain.  And, sure enough, rain is in the forecast for tomorrow – another nice warm day.  Then, things drop into the 40′s for the rest of the week as a high temperature.  We’ve aired out the house and it feels good.  In the summer time, it’s too muggy to air out the house and is doesn’t really “air out” the house, anyway.  It just makes every stinky smell magnified – like the odors are sealed in the mugginess of the heavy air.

    ==============================

    Annamarie and Rissy had a great time playing outside this weekend.  I’m not sure which day I took these photos, but Jesse says Sushi has discovered the trampoline and sits on it, whether anyone is outside with her or not!  This is what I saw from my bathroom window.

    I sure hope that’s gum Rissy is gnawing on and not a rock!     Do you think Annamarie is a little big for that trike?!!!

    Jesse’s lawn trailer is hitched to his truck.  So, I’m without a Suburban today.  He didn’t want to haul his trailer with him to the pawn shop.  But, he’ll have to tomorrow.  Rissy’s neurology appointment is Tuesday afternoon.

    Today’s To Do List:
    *  Teach
    *  Rissy’s laundry
    *  Finish washing Sushi’s & Sampson’s blankets
    *  Clean mess that used to be on desk and is now in foster children’s room
    *  Clean our bathroom sinks
    *  Dinner (DELICIOUS) sea scallops – fish sticks for children
    *  “Think about” rehanging scarf valances in living room (doubt I’ll do it – just think about it!!!)

    Be Blessed  ~

  • I always love your pictures. YUM! Sea scallops! I almost bought some last week. They were on sale, but still a bit pricey. One support check hasn’t come in from last month so we are on a short leash! LOL! You are funny! I always THINK about doing stuff I don’t want to do, too. After a few days of that, I finally make myself do it! Like today…. I have been thinking about making banana bread for AGES! I had so many brown, frozen bananas in the freezer it was ridiculous! so, today I finally did it. I have four big loaves in the oven. I can save on for cell group kids on Friday, give two to neighbors and still have one for us!

  • Great pictures.  Sushi is so cute and sweet sleeping on the pillow next to you!  I just love that last pic of Rissy and Sushi…priceless!  Have a blessed Monday!

  • Mondays are the day that I struggle to get much of anything done!  Our weekends are usually so busy, though, so I guess it’s kind of understandable.  I usually get a load or 2 of laundry done, all my emails from the last 3 days gone thru, & that’s about it.  I don’t think I’m even gonna get that much done today, but I have good reasons… I had to follow Cait to drop off her car to be worked on, then take Camryn to the orhopaedist’s office for a follow-up appointment.  Oh, well…. it’ll all still be here tomorrow.

  • I love that picture of Rissy and Sushi…very nice!

    I could hear Jesse saying that y’all’d gotten the tax refund and you just took off. Silly guy!

    I don’t much like Mondays. I love the crazy spontaneity of the weekends.

    I hope y’all have a good week. This is our spring break! Yay us!

  • I’m just the opposite–I love Fridays–when I can put the structure away for a bit! I like the new mats–mine by the backdoor are ready for the garbage bin! Do those have rubber backings??

    Hope you enjoyed those scallops–I just LOVE scallops! Blessings for your day!

  • @DawneElla -

    Yes, they have rubber backs and can be washed in the machine. I bought them at Wal-Mart – nothing expensive or fancy.

  • that’s what I want–something simple and easy that can be thrown in the wash. I hope our Wal-Mart has them!
