Friday News
We had a nice day yesterday with Jesse being around the house. The Chinese food buffet wasn’t so bad after all. There was no need for me to eat dinner in the evening (Jesse didn’t, either) and I found some leftover vegetable beef soup I had made, which was just enough for the girls’ dinner. We came home after lunch and the girls played outside (a beautiful day) and Jesse napped while I laid beside him reading in my book. It’s not a horrible story, but it’s just not capturing my attention this time. I’m just about finished with the book.
=====================================
This sweet little guy woke me up this morning.
He was in an extremely affectionate mood and purring up a storm. I’m laughing at this picture. He still has sleep in his eyes! Jesse got up around 6am and I was trying to sleep a little longer, but Chirper wouldn’t let me. I think since Jesse was up, he wanted me up, too.
======================================I went to my child raising study group last night. It was a good meeting because people really opened up and shared. I stayed to talk with the other two women in the group and didn’t leave until after 9:45p. It’s not a long drive home – maybe only 20 minutes – but, it’s all back roads in the country and I worry about something happening to my car or me being in an accident and no one knowing.
I guess I had good reason for the extra concern last night. I pulled into our driveway and, when I got out of the vehicle, heard a loud hissing sound. I ran in to get Jesse and told him it sounded like a tire, but it might be a radiator hose. Sure enough, it was the front driver’s side tire. The valve stem was leaking like crazy. I’m sure the tire is flat as a pancake this morning. I pulled out of the driveway and backed the car back in so a tow truck could be called this morning. We have AAA auto club – so the towing will be free – AND, the tires are under warranty and will cost nothing to be repaired. BUT, I have no way to get to the tire place to pick up the vehicle. So, I went ahead and canceled the girls’ therapy appointment. I’M SO GLAD IT DIDN’T HAPPEN ON A COUNTRY BACK ROAD!!!!!!
My character booklets arrived in the mail yesterday – exciting for me! They are only $4/each and BEAUTIFUL!!! They are perfect to go along with the bigger books, “Character Sketches From the Pages of Scripture.” Those are the books that I bought a few weeks ago at a dirt cheap price – less than $10/each and in new condition. They sell for $40/each when ordered new! THEN, the class I attended last night is hitting the area of teaching children moral character (wow! what timing!). Not only that, but the CD I’ve been listening to (called “The Godly Home” by Denny Kenaston) has also been teaching about moral character that parents are instructed in the Bible to teach their children. I told Jesse this morning, it’s been a long time since I’ve really been excited and on fire about learning something. God has been speaking to me (and to Jesse, separately) about training our children to have a heart for God and His kingdom. The information and instructions have all come together so nicely; and, I thank God for orchestrating it all. I take child rearing very seriously and want to do all that God expects from me.
=======================================
It was nice, getting up a little earlier than usual this morning, because it gave me a little bit longer to visit with Jesse before he had to leave for work. He said he’d take off work a bit early in order to pick up my vehicle before the tire place closes. We were able to talk about teaching our children God’s ways and it was such a sweet time for me. I feel encouraged by my husband and very much at peace. Hard to put into words – but it’s an enormous peace!========================================
After Jesse got up to take a shower, I focused more on the little animal that had been snuggled up beside him.
She loves her time with her Daddy, too!!!Perfect and precious, isn’t she?
Perfect and precious if you ignore this . . .
.
GASP!!! No, not Sushi’s fault?????!!!! This used to sit on a sofa table behind my sofa on top of a lace runner. She couldn’t help but pull the corner of the runner that hung over the edge of the sofa table. A tempting morsel for her little teeth! She pulled my vase down and it landed with a crash. The girls were afraid she was going to be in big trouble!This HAD BEEN one of my favorite pieces. I’ve always thought it was pretty – AND, it matched my den. But, like almost everything in my house, it really didn’t cost much. I think it was less than $10.00. I’ll try to glue it back together and see how it looks. (sigh)
The price you sometimes have to pay for babies and baby animals!
===================================================
I was looking at Rissy yesterday during lunch. She had on a short sleeve t-shirt with a long denim skirt. I think she is moving up another size! She was the one who couldn’t gain weight as an infant and small child. Suddenly, she is now blossoming (everywhere)! I laugh at all the scary prognosis’ they doctors were telling me “could” happen with her. She’s fine and VERY filled out!
My sleepy children this morning right after they woke up!
Annamarie (don’t know why this is so blurry)
And, Luci who still isn’t feeling 100% well. The stomach bug has hung on the longest with her.
Today’s To Do List:
* Finish children’s laundry
* Empty ashes from fireplace (it’s supposed to be a week of warmer temperatures)
* Keep on with the tax preparation (this year’s taken the most work and TIME!!!)
* Teach (an easy and light day)
* Bake “Mrs. Hullet’s banana bread”
* Work in foster children’s room
* Dinner will probably be Tater Tot Casserole – already have the meat thawing
* Mend and teach Annamarie how to make stitchesI probably won’t get to everything on the list, or I might dabble with all things. I seem to be starting a lot of projects and not completing any of them. I’ve moved my mending to the den (on the side of the sofa) and need to prepare a little box with needle, thread in basic colors, and scissors. I figure I can mend while I’m watching TV – which isn’t very often, but the thought is there!!!
Be blessed ~

How lovely to begin your day fellowshipping with your sweet husband, and just feeling a pocket of peace! ~~ Sushi has such an adorable little face! ~~ I’m really glad you were home before the tire went flat!
Thank goodness your tire didn’t go flat while you were driving! The break in the vase looks like a clean one so I imagine you can glue it and it will be hardly noticeable. Blessings for your day!
This post just made me feel all happy and warm. Y’all have such a lovely family (and you’re lovely folks yourself).
