Thursday Thirteen #44
No Thursday Thirteen site working again this week. It’s been so long since I’ve been to their site, maybe they left the Internet a long time ago and I didn’t know it.
So, my own version of
THURSDAY THIRTEEN
13 Things Happening Today1. Today is my youngest brother’s birthday (48yo). HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RICH!!!!!!
2. Today Jesse is off work all day. Yay!!!!!!
3. But, Jesse isn’t here (Boooooooooo!), he’s at a medical appointment this morning.
4. Jesse invited me to lunch today. Chinese food buffet – AGAIN (ick). Oh well, it’s time spent with him. Wait, I should clarify that first sentence . . . he invited *me* which includes 3 little girls. Not exactly date night, but how most of our date nights are – with child!
5. I’m half way through finishing the organization of receipts from gasoline and purchases made for Jesse’s lawn business. This has been the hardest task while preparing to file our taxes. I thought the envelopes with each month’s name on them would be sufficient, and it IS better than nothing, but there is a lot of weeding out, throwing away, and sorting that needs to be done within each envelope. I plan to make another dent in that work today.
6. I have to wash the clothes belonging to two children. I think they try something on, don’t like it or change their mind, and put it in the clothes hamper instead of back on a hanger. There’s no way Luci’s laundry was all done this last weekend and the basket was over flowing, again, yesterday. I smell a rat!
7. Annamarie was doing something foolish with the dog and Sushi bit and ripped one of her new dresses. I will teach Annamarie to sew today (or in the very near future). This should be interesting!
8. Not a clue in the world what to fix for dinner. If we are eating a big lunch, dinner can be light. But, we need *something* for dinner, nonetheless.
9. We’re supposed to have fairly decent weather today and the girls are begging to go outside and ride their bikes. However, Annamarie is still having ear problems (I may just put cotton in her ear) and Luci is still complaining of stomach cramps – nothing I can do about that. I’m not sure if fresh air will heal them or hurt them.
10. I have my child raising class this evening. We didn’t meet last Thursday, the roads were covered with ice. This is turning into a VERY long commitment of more months than I had first thought. We had to skip several Thursday nights for schedule conflicts, holidays, and then the weather. It’s a great class and I love the people leading the class, Reba and Glenn, so I’ll continue to stick it out.
11. Jesse is excited about his imprisonment at the pawn shop coming to an end in the near future. He’s already cutting back to 4 days a week and will eventually leave to start up the lawn business again. I’ll enjoy having him around an extra day or two!
12. The house is in fairly decent shape except for vacuuming. The girls haven’t been allowed to watch much TV and so they voluntarily clean. I’m not going to complain about that! I’ll try to vacuum today.
13. I continue to train my (Jesse’s) dog, Sushi. She rates at a “brilliant” level of intelligence. Unfortunately, that herding instinct keeps overriding her ability to obey the “No bite kitty” command. Or, “No bite girls” command. She ran circles around the dining room table after trapping Stormy on a chair under the table. She was running speed races around the table until she ran into me and I picked her up. Her feet were still running as I lifted her. Immediately, she looked at me and her ears dropped back and close to her head. I said, “No, no! No bite kitty!” Stormy was indignant about the whole episode because she made it quite clear the day Sushi arrived that she hated Sushi and Sushi should NEVER bother her. Sushi bothered her today. Oops! Bad dog!

John did our taxes last night, but I went to sleep so I’m not sure what he came up w/. I’m gonna ask him to show me tonight. Have a great lunch out!
The Chinese Buffet sounds pretty good to me! I do like Chinese food, though! Do your cats still have their claws? I remember when my dog used to chase the cats, one of them finally gave him a really good rip across his poor, tender nose! After that, he decided it just wasn’t worth it! LOL! Pain is a great motivator, isn’t it?

Yes, the cats have claws. I have Chirper’s trimmed back each month because he has monster sharp ones. I hope to spare Sushi the experience of a cat’s “swipe.”
My cat that died last year, Jesse-boy, was confronted by a German shepherd in our front yard (when he was much younger) and grabbed the dog by the muzzle with both of his front paws and bit the dog’s nose (sideways). All that was heard was a yelp and dog took off down the street. Jesse-boy was a scrapper in his day. I think these cats are too domesticated and depend on me for protection.
We’ll see!
Hi Cherylyn! Sorry I haven’t been around. I laughed when I read #6 — I just found out that my son uses his laundry hamper as a drawer — “the clothes aren’t that wrinkled mom!” — so I asked him what he used for a hamper — dumb question if I had looked at his floor!
