Winter Wonderland with No Pictures
I woke up to a virtual winter wonderland. White everywhere. Sleet and snow coming down. They say snow and sleet with thunder later this morning. Pictures? Yes. On my camera, but unable to use the new USB cord to connect to the computer so I can show you. I think the problem must be my camera – not the cords or computer. I’ll have to take another picture of Luci with her missing teeth – she lost 2 last week – since I erased her pictures. I probably have a total of 5 pictures stored on my camera! I need to learn to use the safety or lock feature so I don’t accidentally delete them again!
I also woke up (after a LOT of sleep!!!!) with a new attitude. Yesterday was yucky, but that was yesterday and today is today. A clean slate. PLUS . . . all state workers are off today, due to the weather, so no one from Child Protection should call to irritate me further! A friend of Jesse’s called last night and said the worker called him for references and kept asking how we worked things out when a situation was too much for us. He (just as insistently) told the worker we didn’t have issues that were impossible to handle. We got a long well and we didn’t beat our children. We didn’t drink. We didn’t take drugs . . . . the worker persisted until he irritated our friend, who had no idea what the worker had said to us earlier! Ah, well! No sense talking about yesterday.
Just looked at the temperature – only 20° and not expected to be much warmer. Wind chill puts us down to single digit temperatures. You do what you have to do to stay warm!
I’ve decided to switch-a-roo our home school schedule. I taught last Monday before Annamarie was diagnosed with her strep throat and ear infection. Then, my ribs went out . . . So, I’m thinkin’ that I can pick up last week’s Tuesday – Friday assignments today, except for pushing Rissy to the next spelling lesson. There is so much new stuff I want to introduce and am excited about, but I HAVE to work on our taxes first. We always get a sizeable refund and that would be a nice little amount of money to receive in a couple of weeks! So, taxes take precedence!
Jesse didn’t have to go to work until 11am, they called him while he was in the shower, and he just left for work. I bet they’ll close early, too. Remember, this is the place that has no heat except for a few space heaters. He has his coveralls up there, and will probably have to put them on. Space heaters in a building that used to be a large grocery store, don’t adequately keep things warm – unless you sit directly in front of them!
I remember summer, but I’m enjoying our cold blast of winter just as much!
Today’s To Do List:
* Finish Jesse’s laundry (one load is washed, 3 more to do)
* Get school out of the way
* Put pot roast ingredients in Crock Pot
* Prepare paperwork from books for income tax
* Keep fireplace going
* Read another NEW book (I’m enjoying my reading time, lately!)Be Blessed ~

We got a whopping 1/2 inch of snow out of the predicted 2 – 4 inches. They *say* more is coming this afternoon – up to 8 inches! Mmmmhmmmm…. Cynicism is my middle name this winter. I’m not missing it at all though. I’m ready for summer!
Love the summer photo- sigh (as I look out at our cold icy yard)… and your cute animals. Sweet.
Loved the picture of Chirper in the dryer! I would like some Winter weather, please! I know many are struggling to keep driveways shoveled and houses warm. I just want a few inches of the white stuff so I can feel like we actually had Winter here! Hope your tax refund is GIGANTIC!
I sent you an email with a possible solution to the camera problem!
Am so glad you are feeling better!

Oh that fire does look cozy! We had a nice warm day here -5c which is about 28F. I know it doesn’t sound very warm but in comparison to what we have been experiencing it was lovely–nice and sunny too! Blessings~Dawne
