Busy Week Planned
We are supposed to have our termite man come out this afternoon to check for termites and renew our contract. It’s pouring buckets of rain and I’ve just left a message to see if the appointment would need to be rescheduled.
This is the “Week of Appointments” for me. I never go anywhere, but when it rains it pours.
I have to take Annamarie to the dental appointment I canceled last week, the girls will have a physical on the same day (at the same place) they have their therapy session on Friday, and on Saturday our insurance company will arrive to check out roof damage from a recent hail storm. We had trouble a few years ago with some leaking, and they said our roof was fine. It wasn’t. We had a roof man patch the shingles but now we have wet spots on the ceilings through out the house. They should have replaced the roof a couple of years ago. I hope there isn’t damage to our attic “treasures.”
I worked hard this week end to get our summer clothes and winter clothes switched around.
The summer clothes are on top of a card table in the garage, all bagged nicely in Wal-Mart sacks.
The bins under the table are winter clothes. Two of the bins contain MY things. We also have a bin of hangers!
We have switched sizes from what I “thought” everyone would be wearing this winter. Ends up I have quite a few things for JanaLyn’s box. Everyone jumped a size this summer! Which is good. Luci can wear 7/8′s and Rissy can wear the 10′s and some 12′s. Annamarie doesn’t have many new things, one dress I think. She DOES have some new tops to wear with skirts. I’ve collected nice things from the thrift shops and buy in advance when I find something that is in good condition. Each girl is having two dresses made (in heavier fabric) and they should arrive soon. AND, I found an extra denim skirt in Annamarie’s current size. I’m sure glad I found it, but have NO IDEA how it ended up in the garage! That gives her 3 denim skirts – the long ones from Old Navy. We are in much better shape than I thought.
Rissy’s closet is taking on the fall and winter colors as her yellows and pinks are being bagged up and sent to the garage, to be (eventually) sent to the sacred attic!.
The girls are still keeping their rooms pretty clean. We do quick checks throughout the day to make them stay on top of messes. PLUS, I’ve gotten rid of so much . . .
I did laundry all day Saturday and Sunday. I still have a few body aches, but aspirin takes care of that just fine. So, I stayed home from church, yesterday, and read while changing out the washing machine and dryer. Jesse took the girls to church and went by the pharmacy and then his mother’s house to give her some new prescriptions. She was released from the hospital Friday, but didn’t call Jesse until Saturday night to tell him she had no food. I bagged up a bunch of things to last her a week and he took it over on Friday night. Yesterday, he just needed to give her her pills.
Today it’s Luci’s dirty clothes day . . . and a cat . . . that need to be washed!
He must have jumped in at the same moment I clicked the shutter! I was surprised to see him in the picture!Luci and Annamarie look more awake than they really feel!
This is a more realistic picture of them this morning!!!
And. what is everyone doing in the kitchen????
Rissy wanted to make muffins for breakfast.
As it ends up, her muffins took much more of my involvement and I don’t function well at 9-something in the morning. An egg was dropped on the floor. I needed to get up again to get baking powder down. I needed to get up and wash the muffin pan. I was called to show her the difference between the BLUE (not clearly marked) tablespoon and teaspoon measuring spoons.
AND . . . arguing, arguing, arguing (with bossy voices) was all I heard. I gave one warning, “Stop talking to each other like that or there will be no muffins and no cooking.”
There are no muffins.
They are eating toast.
I told Rissy to quit cooking and clean up her mess.
I always hate arguing, whining and bossy voices; but, before 10 in the morning . . . There’s absolutely no tolerance within me!
To Do List
* We are back on schedule with home school and I think we’ll finish one more book this week
* Need to put my pot roast in the Crockpot later for dinner
* Luci’s laundry (and maybe our sheets)
* Check bills and see what needs to be paid this week (that’s always soooo much fun!)
* Go over some new house rules for the girls (and parents) to follow. There’s too much bickering and short tempers (mine included). The girls argue constantly when there isn’t a need to argue. Sometimes the arguing is about “who” is “right” when a preference for a color or flavor of gum is all they are discussing. (rolling my eyes!) The volume of our voices needs to be cranked down a WHOLE lot!A dismal drizzly day filled with school and chores and maybe a termite man.
Ahhhh, yes, the life of the privileged and elite!
P.S. Thank you Lord for my power saving and retrieving system. Chirper just stepped on the power cord, while I was proof reading this entry, and turned off my computer. Fortunately, I had the option to “restore session” and Voila! there was all my Xanga moaning – right where I had left off!

I know my girls used to get like that when they were bored. I know there is still no excuse for treating each other that way, but sometimes I saw they just needed a break from each other. I would try to plan some activities with some of their other friends so they could see and be around someone different for a while.
sounds like an aother busy week. I am glad everything went so well with your home study! I hope everything goes as you desire. Don’t you just hate switch clothes around for the right season?? ARGh….. I am actually done with it, but many years the snow is flying and I am still digging for winter clothes. I think we are ready this year for the snow. We bought Tommy a new pair of snow pants this weekend so I think we are good to go!! Hopefully the snow boots I bought for him at the church garage sale fit!! Iwill have to check those!
I never switch clothes for the season. I just make Sunday dresses for myself. When they get not as nice they are used for town and going away and then everyday.
I only have 3 dresses that are winter and they just stay in the back of my closet until needed.
Rich wears short sleeve shirts year around! Jayberry’s off season clothes just hang in the back of his closet until they are needed! We have a coat closet that is designated just for that and they stay in there through all the seasons. I wear my summer dresses all winter! Yes, I usually wear a light weight jacket and slippers in the house when it is cold or leggings underneath when I go outside. That way I don’t need two different wardrobes! I don’t mind wearing light colored dresses in the winter… no one else has complained yet!
And a correction for you! You ordered three dresses for each girl! Not two! Nice, heavy, and warm for Winter too! They are in the mail and should be there by Wed. or Thurs.
Blessings,
Tina
I love Firefox for the very reason you mention in your PS. It auto-saves. Yippee!
We had appointment week last week. I wasn’t terribly happy but then I generally am not.
I hope you have a lovely week!
You are way ahead of me my friend. All of our winter stuff is still in totes in the basement and it is 32 out tonight. Guess I had better get myself in gear and switch our clothes around. Thanks for the boost, it was just what I needed
