  • The Ups and Downs

Not feeling so good, here.  Canceled the dental appointment yesterday, I just couldn’t do it.  It has been rescheduled for next week.

Last night, I made a large stock pot of chicken noodle soup for dinner and, as people were ready, everyone dipped the ladle in the pot and served themselves.  Stephanie came by while I was finishing my bowl and I was barely able to hold a conversation.  She fed the girls and stayed until Jesse arrived home from work.  I felt VERY fuzzy headed and the laryngitis was sounding more and more husky.

I went to my Child Raising Class.  The couple who live at the house, me, and one of the leaders – Glenn – were the only ones there.  We Watched the 1st DVD in the series of 16.  I MADE myself attend (instead of bow out) because it’s almost impossible to get the full benefit from the program if you miss a class.

I came home, the girls were in bed and Jesse was in the den.  I had another bowl of soup and then cleaned up the pot and put the leftovers away.  I was beginning to feel chilled and didn’t feel very talkative.  I felt “slow”,  You know? when the world seems to be moving much faster than your brain can process???!!!  By the time I went to bed, I had the full shakes with teeth chattering, and all.  I slept with the electric blanket on 5 or 6 all night long.  Normally, it’s set on 3.  This morning, I woke up with my sinuses congested and all the other lovely things that go along with that.

Today my blog’s “episode” will be called the Ups and Downs in my life.  Although, I shouldn’t really call any of these things “downs” since things could be so much worse!

Remember the drapes Chirper pulled DOWN?  Well, they are still stuck UP over the rod until I can fix them.

BUT . . . the drapes I had put UP in the dining room rods (he had been playing with those) are now DOWN again.

I think they look nicer down than stuck up in the top of the rods!!!  What about you? LOL

Yesterday, by the grace of God, we caught up in school except for Rissy has one math page and one language page to do today.  And, we will finish up a few pages of science today.  We’re back on target except for Bible, but I moved the lesson to week after next.

AND (!!!) . . . (another UP) we finished a couple books.  One last week and one again this week!

Finished our “Community Helpers” Book.                              Finished our “Health, Safety & Manners” book.

This isn’t really a “DOWN” as I believe new books are exciting and we are privileged to have them!
We have a whole box of new books to start after Thanksgiving.  History, geography, science & health.

I guess Chirper thought the foster children’s room looked barren and decided to decorate the nightstand with himself!

There he is, DOWN at the bottom on a shelf!

And, finally, although I feel “DOWN”, my children are quite “UP” and active this morning.

I found them in the hallway singing a song from the play “Mack & Mabel” called “Look What Happened to Mabel.”

For those unfamiliar with the play, it’s about “poor little Nellie, a kid from the deli” who was made over into a motion picture star.  Glamorous and all!

    So here you go:

“Every gesture and position that she takes . . .  is smart and meticulous!”

“Talk about the difference that a camera makes . . . but, this is ridiculous!”

“Hold your tongue and hold your snickers

for the new enchantress of the flickers”

    “Is that plain little Nellie”

    “Kid from the deli”

    “Rattle me beads!”

    “Look what happened to

    “Maaaaa-

    belllllllllllll!”

Okay, enough about my young and budding stage struck stars!

If she doesn’t cancel, the gal is supposed to come at 1pm to meet with me about our home study.  AND, I should run up the street to Wal-Mart to buy a few things (milk and non-edible things like batteries, etc.!).  I canceled the girls’ therapy appointment for this afternoon.  Boy am I ever glad I did.  I don’t want to go ANYWHERE today!

    Be blessed  ~

  • Good for you on catching up!!! I’m slacking big time and need to get busy again. Been dealing with a bought of depression and trying to keep treading water right now.

I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling well. (())

  • Dear Cherylyn,

It sounds as if you have a full blown case of the flu!  I do hope you are feeling much better soon.  It is no fun to be sick, especially when you have the responsibility of the care of others.  My prayers are with you.

    Love, Judy

  • Get well soon! And those girls of yours are so very cute! I can see them singing and dancing from watching the pictures!!

  • I’m sorry you are still fighting the creeping crud. I am with ya! I am feeling a bit better, but getting the apartment cleaned up, baking something for refreshments, and doing Bible Study has really wiped me out. Also, doing all that talking got me coughing so much it was hard. I am sure the young people thought I should have cancelled, but in spite of the barking, I think it went well, and we had a new person, too. ~~ Your sweet girls are such hams! Hope you can rest tomorrow. I sure plan to!

  • Oh….the girls are just precious…too bad you didn’t get a video of their little act!

I hope the home study actually did happen and all went well. I hope you’re feeling better too. I’m not feeling so good myself and it does make everything (like blinking) soooooo much harder!!

Looking forward to hearing how that home study went. Take care and God Bless! ~Dawne

  • Here’s hoping you feel better soon!
I was told to take a Selenium, a Zinc, and a 1000 mlg of Vit C a day to stay healthy.
Since I did that I haven’t gotten a cold for 2 years now! If I feel kinda scratchy in my throat I up the vitamin C for a day.
Can’t have you getting sick and leaving the youngun’s fending for themselves! They sound alot like mine and he can make a mess in no time!
    HUGS<

  • Get well quickly!!! I second the Zinc and extra C etc.

Also, thanks for sharing the details of your life with us! Your posts are very enjoyable to me.

I started with Zicam, but stopped when I suspected it was a flu bug and not a common cold.

I feel better today – got more done, at least. I ache, but not as much as last night. Maybe I’m on the mend if I stay low key for a few days.

    Thanks for your concern! :)
