  • Thursday Without a Thirteen

I went to bed (and to sleep) early last night, before 9pm.  I read through one of my magazines and started on another one.  Rissy came in to talk to me and I jumped.  Guess I fell asleep reading.  I turned off the light rolled over and was O-U-T!  I woke up at 2am and was awake until 3:30am with a stopped up nose and a crick in my left shoulder and side of my neck.  I must have slept in one position on my side for all those hours.  I couldn’t find my heating pad (always hooked up and kept on the side of my bed) but Rissy found it this morning.  It had slipped between the pillow at the head of the bed and wall (??????) a first.  Anyway, I took 2 Sudafed at 2:30am (which didn’t really seem to help my stuffed up nose) and around 3:15 a muscle relaxer.  I piled the pillows high, to help me breathe, and slept until 8:30am.  Technically, that was enough hours of sleep, but it was interrupted sleep and I woke up this morning still feeling congested.  I can *breathe* okay, but it’s all that fuzzy, deep feeling in my brain, sinus stuff.

It’s probably from cleaning my dusty house and getting those boxes (Jesse handed them to me) down from the attic, yesterday.  That’ll teach me to clean!   I should vow to never clean again, right?  Yeah, I didn’t think so!

Speaking of cleaning, Jesse left before I woke up, but he must have threatened the girls with keeping the house clean.  I turned on the computer and was glued here to my chair and Luci was almost in tears begging Annamarie to get up (immediately) and help her make their bed (king size).  I heard her say, “But Daddy said we had to keep the house clean. Puh-leeeeze help me.”  I intervened and told them I was sure he didn’t mean clean right this moment!  Although, he and I are on the same page today!

Today we have 3 days of home school to do: Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s, and today’s work.  We are finishing some books, so it’s not really all that much stuff.  I will start new books after Thanksgiving.

Annamarie has her dental appointment this afternoon so they can listen to her talk.  The therapist said she agrees with me that she is still lisping and most of her speech is garbled or mush-mouth and unclear.  She suggested I have the dentist check out her appliance in her mouth that was supposed to make her stop lisping, which it hasn’t, before we find a speech therapist.

I really don’t want to go anywhere today.  This is what I’d rather do all day.

Don’t they look kicked-back and relaxed?  I’m too old to lie on the floor, but lying down on the sofa sounds appealing!

I took pictures this morning of a few things changed in our house.  These are the draperies Chirper pulled down.  Remember those slippery scarf valances that took me half a day to hang JUST ONE?  Yep, Chirper had the rod AND the valance on the floor yesterday.  I threw the scarf valance over the rod to keep him from sharpening his claws on the fabric.  Isn’t it lovely?

Makes a definite home fashion statement!

I’ve decided to leave it until I feel like messing with it, again.  I think it gives our house a “lived-in atmosphere” which should speak well of us when the gal comes for the home study tomorrow.  Besides the fact, it is closer to  how we usually live!  Something is ALWAYS out of place around here!

I also replaced the centerpiece on the dining room table with my dried purple flower arrangement that had been sitting in the formal living room.  The picture doesn’t do it justice.  Chirper (my darling, perfect cat) striped the tops of the stems of all their flowers.  Now it is a purple floral and “STICK” arrangement.  Probably no one but me would know it didn’t always look the way it does now!

Jesse left me a “To Do” list today.  Guess pay back is fair play, right???  What is funny is that he ran out of room at the bottom (the list really isn’t THAT long, it just seems that way to me with my fuzzy brain, this morning) and went back up to the top to say, “I Love You!” and put a little heart there!  My “To Do” lists yesterday didn’t have “love yous” or hearts on them, but everyone did well and enjoyed crossing off stuff on their personal lists.  I posted them with magnets on the refrigerator door and they all scurried around doing their little chores from their lists.  I had no idea it would be such a hit!  PLUS, it helped Luci and Annamarie with their reading.

Here are my wide awake children this morning:

    Annamarie

    Rissy

    AND,

Luci (a typical position for her, she’s always rolling around or moving around in someway!)

Take a quick look at the bar AND my clean, white cabinet doors!!!  It’s still clean from yesterday!!!

I should be moving on and getting around here.  Stephanie will come tonight when she gets off of work to watch the girls when I leave to go to Reba’s & Glenn’s class (“Growing Kids God’s Way”).  I’m thinking of making chicken noodle soup.  Something that can cook itself and will be good to eat as people filter in and out of the house this evening.

Last of all, my faithful little buddy who stayed with me all night long while I was sleeping AND awake.  He’s such a faithful little friend!

    Chirper Elzabad

He’s filling out nicely (so am I, though!!!).

  • I’m glad that you are improving, but I’m sure it isn’t fast enough to suit you.  You are in my prayers.  Love, Judy

  • It is no fun having lots to do and not feeling good! Today I left the apartment for the first time since last Saturday. I did OK, but we kept the shopping to a minimum, and Warren carried in most of the stuff. We have quite a walk from the parking lot in to our place, and with the damp air, I was having some serious issues! I’m glad things seem to be coming together for the home study. I am sure it will all be fine. Feel better, my friend.

  • Whew!  You have too much energy.  All those kids must keep you young!
