It's Wednesday. Jesse still feels lousy and I feel . . . weird. By that I mean, kind of fizzy (like 7-Up instead of blood is in my veins) and I'm thinking I am either having a reaction to the flu shot, which they say can't happen (although the same thing happened to me last year after the flu shot), or . . . worse case scenario . . . I'm getting what Jesse has - the flu.
Feels like a lose/lose situation.
I'm torn between getting everything done for the next few days TODAY (just in case I feel worse tomorrow), and then I think, "Maybe I should rest." Last time I took it easy, rested, and watched a movie with the girls, I got a kick in the pants. I forgot that our cell phone and Visa bills were due. Now we owe late charges, and Visa's isn't a small late fee! (beating myself up, here!!!)
Jesse has truly won my pity. I think this is the second time in all our years of marriage that I have ever seen him really sick. I swear it's all of those jalapeƱo peppers he eats each day! No germ can live amidst the "hot" that swims through his body! Despite him feeling so bad, he woke up this morning thinking he'd go mow 4 "easy" lawns. I told him he's crazy when this isn't even a busy week for him. Instead, he's "trying out" mowing in our own yard first. (rolling my eyes!)
Seeing that he really is down, I decided on homemade chicken soup yesterday for our dinner. I had hopes that it would help him to feel better and cure his stuffy nose. It did. In fact, ALL of us had running noses after eating. What IS the factor in chicken soup that opens the sinuses?
I slow cooked it for several hours.
This is right after adding the finishing touches . . . a can of cream of chicken soup and a stick of butter . . . while letting it reheat with the new ingredients.
I have to admit, it looked very appetizing in the bowl before we all dove into it.
And, the hot biscuits with butter and honey were a perfect side item!
Rissy assured me, "This is better than chunky canned soups!" Watch out, Campbell's Soup Company! You have a competitor!
* I have a feeling I should take care of banking business today. Then, I can easily pay bills online with no "late fees" tossed at me, again!
* No word, yet, about someone doing our home study!
* I'll start on laundry today, just to keep up with the girls' clothes.
* We normally have our cold weather hit around the end of October. I don't think it's too early to pull the girls' summer sun-type dresses from their closets. They haven't worn them in a long time, because I won't let them go outside to play. We are covered with mosquitoes, biting flies, and gnats this year in our city.
* We're catching up in homeschool this week. Too many things happened over the past 2 weeks that threw my agenda off. We aren't terribly behind, especially since we are in school year round. But, Rissy is at the age that she needs to be active day after day to retain what she's been taught.
* I've pulled a pack of ground beef out of the freezer this morning. I'm thinking a Mexican casserole sounds good, IF I have corn tortillas. I may not. In that case, it will be Mexican soup - we add sour cream and grated cheddar cheese on the top and break tortilla chips in it.
* I STILL need to paint the guest room. I think the lack of response in getting someone to do our home study has taken the urgency of painting the guest room out of my head. I've always worked better under pressure.
Better get to crackin' and do SOMETHING besides type on my blog!
Be blessed!
