  • It’s Not My Party, So I’ll Cry If I Want To

Did my title get your attention?  Sniff!  Sniff!

    Nah . . . I’m not gonna cry.

But . . . it is TWO SPECIAL people’s birthdays and not mine.

My sister-in-law, JoAnn, is celebrating an (um) important (clearing my throat) MILESTONE birthday!!!!

And Jesse’s (and now MY) good friend, Shaun, is celebrating his birthday.

Many many blessings are prayed for both JoAnn and Shaun to have a blessed day and a year of good health and happiness.  They are some of the nicest people we know.

Our plans are to take Shaun to lunch this afternoon.  I mailed JoAnn’s gift on Friday, but I don’t know if it will reach her today or tomorrow.  Hopefully, today.

We’re struggling to get up and moving around this morning.  Another dark morning that made getting out of bed difficult.  Even Chirper yawned (3 big ones) before he stood up and stretched.  I would have let him sleep in bed, but he follows me around everywhere.  Especially in the morning before he’s had breakfast!!!

I’m not sure how we’ll accomplish home school with Shaun’s lunch, plus, the painter, Don, will be here soon.  “Too many cooks in the kitchen” is the same as too many family members in the kitchen while the painter is painting cabinets!

The girls’ electric blanket for their king size bed arrived yesterday.  The past few nights and mornings made it ALMOST necessary to use one.  I’m not going to cave yet, nor am I going to turn the furnace on – but, we WILL tough it out and save money on utility bills for as long as we can!

Nothing much to write about.  It’s too early and too many things are up in the air.  When will we meet Shaun?  When will the painter be here?  When will Luci (who is throwing a fit) calm down and come out of her room?  When will the person doing our home study call us?  Our caseworker called Monday to say our case had been assigned to someone.  I didn’t write down the person’s name, as it doesn’t really matter.  They will call us when they call us.  He said he was sending me an email with the person’s name and wanted me to write back immediately that I received his email stating the person’s name.  The email never arrived.

I think I’ll get something to eat before Don arrives.  I’ve only eaten a banana – not nearly enough!

Oops!  Don is here.  Chirper just ran out to meet him in the kitchen.  Don’s made a little friend, I think! Awwwww!

    Be blessed ~

P.S.  I FINISHED MY BOOK LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • JayBerry loves his electric blanket! We have it plugged into a timer so it goes on at 8:45PM and goes off at 8:30 AM. Saves electric that way too!
We would use one in our room too but Richard’s CPAP would condensate in the hose if the room isn’t warm! SO we have to have one of those oil heated heaters in our room but I keep it as low as I can…just enough to take the chill off the air!
    Blessings,
    Tina

  • Dear Cherylyn,

Another enjoyabe post!  Hope you have a blessed day and are able to get the homeschooling done.  I know God has everything in control about the foster children, and I’m sure that’s the way you want it.

    Love,

    Judy

Thank you, Judy! I have started telling our caseworker, “I guess the children God has planned for us haven’t been taken into custody yet.”

I can’t believe God would place foster care in my heart without knowing the sibling group He thinks would most benefit from our house and us from them.

Jesse hates electric blankets. We have a king size bed. I bought a twin electric blanket to cover MY HALF! Often he sticks his feet on my side when he first gets in bed! Your room may be too hot to do that. But that’s how I keep warm in winter.

  • I also have a twin electric blanket for our king sized bed, but would like to find a king sized one at a good price for the winter.   We caved and did turn on the furnance on last night.   I think getting new windows will help in keep our home much warmer this winter.

Hope you have a great day!

  • Yes! That book is done! Hope you have a great birthday celebration with Shaun. We have turned the heat on just a smidge here. It is going down to about 38 degrees at night now, so we really need to. We have it on in the bathroom and the living room just enough to take the chill off the room.

  • Happy Birthday to your loved one’s! I hope your day went well with all the up and air that you were faced with. Hubby and I are the same with the blankets. I don’t have an electric one but I have two extra blankets on my side. We’ve turned the heat on a time or two just to take the chill off. Hope your book was a satisfying read. God Bless~Dawne

  • I enjoyed your post.  I hope you had a lovely day!
