Thursday Thirteen #35
Unable to set pictures into the Thursday Thirteen format, this will have to be MY OWN way of Thursday Thirteen-ing everyone! Sorry Thursday Thirteen people!
1. Today is a gorgeous day. Not a cloud in the sky!
2. I was outside and came back in to get my camera to show the newly finished house color. Garage doors. (The house numbers will have to be repainted in white, they no longer show up.)
4. A close up of the front entryway.
5. Close up of front door corner.
Looks like I need to brush the dust off of the front door’s molding!6. This is part of the new backyard view. The back door and Stormy in a dining room window.
7. And this is a close up of the backyard wall and brick.
8. The dining room’s bay windows.
10. I thought we were done and he had started his new job. He hasn’t been paid by us, except for the spray rig Jesse bought. But after not seeing him for quite a few days, or hearing from him, and after seeing this left behind:
We figured he had started his new job and wouldn’t have time to paint the inside of our house. Boo! Hoo! That left me with the guest room, that I haven’t been fired up to finish, AND the wretched bathroom with all it’s nooks and crannies to paint around!11. But . . . !!!!! Guess what? Jesse called this morning and said Don was on his way over to paint the bathroom!!!! The girls and I scrambled to empty the bathroom of it’s contents.
And *I* scrounged through cans of paint looking for that light taupe I had bought over a year ago.12. The back of the door. The tile looks blue, but it isn’t . . .every single thing is white. Plain BORING white. The tile, the toilet and sink, THE WALLS . . .
The blue tint must be the sun filtering through our frosted glass window over the tub. Isn’t this room in pathetic need of help with some color? ANY color?13. After dusting off many paint cans that were stored in our utility room (to maintain the paint at an indoor temperature), I found one can that HAD to be the color I had picked out for the girls’ bathroom. It was the only beige-ish color that wasn’t custom made. When we moved in here, I had them match the flat beige-ish paint from the formal living areas and a satin finish color for our kitchen (pale, pale, yellow). They both say “custom” on their labels.
The only can I found that said semi-gloss and wasn’t custom made was this one lone can. A color much lighter than I remember choosing. Of course it WAS over a year ago that I bought the paint!!!! Maybe I’d thrown it around in my head to do a taupe brown and decided it would be too dark for the little bathroom. I just don’t remember choosing what I found; although, it, does indeed, match the lightest part of the background color in my picture. It may also blend well with the color of marble counter top in that bathroom, too.
I sure hope so, because that’s what we’ve decided to use!
So, there you have my day. Jesse got up early and is trying to work (with a friend helping) as much as possible. I think Greg will mow and Jesse will weed eat, edge, and blow off the grass. I hope he can make it through the day. It IS a lovely day with temperatures in the high 70′s. Jesse didn’t look so great when he left. Greg has been a friend for a long time and is in between jobs, right now. He needs the money and Jesse certainly needs some help. No medical provided - it was stated clearly up front!!!!!I had planned to wash my hair in the shower this morning and let it dry while I taught school. After Jesse called to tell me Don was on his way over to paint, I quickly had the girls empty the bathroom, I looked for the paint, and I grabbed some breakfast bars for breakfast.
Not exactly as I had planned for today to turn out. I CAN take a shower in my bathroom, but will demand the girls stay in my bedroom nearby. I feel really weird bathing with a stranger in the house! I guess I could take a quick bath, put my hair up in a clip and get dressed and teach. The whole shower thing could happen later. I just don’t want to miss the vice presidential debate tonight. And, I’m not sure how much attention Jesse will require after going back to work so soon. He may come home, shower, and fall into bed!
It’s chili dogs for dinner tonight. We had Mexican casserole last night. There is less than 1/2 of the casserole left, which is okay. Tomorrow, after the girls’ therapy appointment, I will get home late and will serve leftovers for dinner! The more, the better!
Have a good one!

Love, love, love the house! It looks wonderful and what a perfect
color! Chili dogs sound yummy. We are going to Wendy’s for burgers..our Thursday night usual. Have a blessed day.
Your house looks great! Glad he’s coming back to do the bathroom! Yay for something to mark off your list!
Your house looks AWESOME. I LOVE the green, that happens to be my favorite color
.
You truly have a beautiful home!! I know it will be such a relief, as well as a sense of fulfillment when it is all done. Hope you all have a good day.
Love,
Judy
The house looks good! I’m glad Don is going to paint the bathroom. You can ask him about the bedroom, too!
I have never made chili dogs before. Basically, it is just a hotdog with chili on it, right? What is in the chili? Today I made Chicken Parmesan. I have been in the mood for that lately, and I had bought a big can of Parmesan when the kids were here and I made lasagna. Blessings on you and your busy brood!

Chili: I buy it already made in a can (thicker than my home made version) and it’s by “Wolf” . . . I’ll send you some! You want it with or without kidney beans????? !!!!!!!!!
My chili dogs have canned chili spooned over a cooked hotdog, sprinkled with grated cheddar cheese, zapped in the microwave to melt the cheese and warm the bun and then chopped onions for whoever asks! You get ketchup or mustard on the bun – the diner’s choice.
Requires extremely difficult culinary skills!
I was scanning thru your pics, and I stopped and thought, why is she posting pictures of someone else’s house? And then I thought…oh yeah! She repainted the house! I love it, and I think the color is great! But, the next time I head over there, I’m sure I’ll drive right past it
We have kidney beans here. I could probably just fry ground beef and make the topping. You are so nice to offer to send some, but cans are HEAVY!
Did Jesse make it through the day without crashing? It’s almost midnight here, and I suppose I should get to bed. Blessings to you, friend!
The house looks fabulous–the colour is so rich–very, very nice.
Chili must be in the air. Hubby and I decided on a big pot of homemade for the weekend. Have a great day~Dawne

Home Made Chili Recipe – More or Less
Brown ground beef with regular seasonings. Drain grease and add 1 can chopped tomatoes, 1 can tomatoes with chili peppers, 2 large (10 oz???) cans tomato sauce, 1 can kidney beans, 2 cans pinto beans, and add water to cook down. I season it with salt, black pepper, 1/2 tsp garlic POWDER, chili powder (a couple tablespoons), cumin powder 1-2 tablespoons, and cayenne (very little 1/4 tsp???). After it simmers a while, you can taste it and boost up the spice levels according to your taste.
This is too runny to use over hotdogs or hamburgers, so I buy canned chili for that. Jesse prefers the canned chili without beans and the girls and I like it with beans. So, depending on lunch or dinner (when Jesse is home) I make it according to his wishes.
I don’t know why I am not receiving your updates in my email. Thank you for your comments. I am going to go see what’s going on.

Sounds good! I don’t put pinto beans in mine. I tried, but the Pea Hater didn’t like them!
I love love love your house! The green is beautiful! Aren’t you glad you picked that color!! LOL!! Wish Burnell was up to finishing my rec room so I could paint it! Oh well that day will come! Right now he’s grateful to be able to help me fold laundry!! Glad your getting all your painting done. Doesn’t it just give you a lift to have it all repainted and so clean looking?!
