  • Friday Got Here Quick!!!!

This week has flown by and I’m sure it’s because it’s been filled with fun activities.  Well . . . until today.  Today is our housekeeping, shopping, bill paying, and therapy appointment day.  Business, as usual!

Yesterday, I was on the sofa brushing Annamarie’s hair and pulled (a horrible wrenching pain) my shoulder blade muscle or rotated a rib in my back.  Between my sore left armpit and muscle spasm in my right arm and shoulder blade, I was a couch potato!  JoAnn and I watched two movies – something I RARELY get to do.  Eventually, I’m sure from holding myself still so I wouldn’t feel the spasm, I ended up with a headache  – almost migraine type.  I went to bed early on a heating pad (Jesse was concerned and could tell I was in a lot of pain) and got up in he middle of the night to take 2 headache pills.  I feel fine this morning with only traces of what was so painful, before.

Jesse had a disturbing phone call last night.  A guy he worked with a long time ago, who has a Mexican restaurant nearby, shot his wife at the restaurant and then drove to the lake, shot himself, and the car plunged into the lake – which is where the investigation started.  I barely remember hearing Jesse’s phone discussion last night (I was mainly asleep) and asked him for details today.  There are no details as of this morning.  They left young children behind.  Sad story.

I took a look outside and this is what awaited me this morning.  I must have slept through the downpour!

All of the toys sat with puddles on them.

And every blade of grass held droplets of rain.

This is a preview of the next 5 days, or so – lots of precipitation!  Not so very painful for me, because Jesse and I start our Foster Parent classes tomorrow and each Saturday and until we’ve completed 27 hours of “training” – I use that word loosely because they can’t possibly tell anyone what it’s really like to be a foster parent.  And, the ins and outs of “the system” is something you definitely learn AFTER dealing with the state government for a spell!

There is only half of Rissy’s “Strawberry Crisp” leftover from last night. (Yum!  Good job, Riss’!!)

So, I made a pan of brownies this morning.

And while they were baking, I read blogs and beat Chirper off of me.  Seriously, he was determined to play with my long hair and was in an unusually playful mood for such an early hour in the morning.  I tried to take his picture and he was sidetracked from my hair by the camera’s neck band hanging from the camera.  I tried to keep it from him so I could take his picture and he continued to circle around me like I was his prey!  The light blur in the bottom right corner is my knee spinning around in my desk chair to keep him from attacking my camera and strap!

Aha!  I caught him in a still moment!  Despite him looking skinnier than a cartoon “creature” – he really has gained a lot of weight!  This just isn’t the most flattering position to show his weight.  I need to figure out what position he is in order to HIDE *my own* weight in future pictures!!!!  LOL

Despite the gray and gloomy skies

I have a bright spot in my home.  Purplish pink carnations the girls brought me after I injured my armpit earlier this week.  “Get Well” flowers!  They are my favorite kind and color of carnation.  They have the strongest scent – almost like cloves.

Since it’s a day that isn’t conducive to playing outdoors or playing inside (since it feels so dismal), I’m baking desserts and chicken for tomorrow’s dinner (chicken salad) and JoAnn just took a shower.  The laundry is going – I’m on my 4th load now – and most everyone else is just sitting/laying around the dark house.

Here’s Sampson on his bed in our bathroom.  He moves that blanket all over the bathroom.  I don’t know why, but I think it’s cute because you never know where he’ll be lying when you walk into the bathroom!  He just pushes it with his nose or pulls it to a different spot with his teeth!  Today he is sleeping in front of Jesse’s closet door and sink area.  I had sprayed some room freshener in there earlier and, apparently, he didn’t think it smelled so great.  He buried his nose!

Even my girls are quietly playing cards.  Well, they WERE until they moved the card game to the den and turned on the Broadway Musical music station on cable TV!!!!  They aren’t singing; but, ARE amazed that I know the words to most of the songs!  They are talking LOUDLY over the volume of the music playing!

ROFLOL!!!!  Luci has something on her head (supposed to be a headcovering) and just told the girls she wouldn’t play with them because they were “English”!!!!!!  For those of you unfamiliar with the Amish, the Amish refer to everyone else as “The English” . . . don’t know WHERE Luci picked that up!  Listening to my children’s conversations brings laughter faster than most anything I know.  I can’t remember what they were discussing this morning, but JoAnn and I were listening and giggling at their reasoning and conclusions!!!!  Goofy girls!

Okay, I’m taking back that statement about them “not singing” . . .   The “Hour of Smiles” song from Annie was just on TV and they sang their little hearts outs at the top of their lungs!!!!  JoAnn and I laughed and I had to ask her how she thought my “little orphans” sounded!

Better change the loads of laundry out, drain the water from the cooked chicken, and get MYSELF in the bathtub.  Our appointment isn’t for a while, but I hate to be rushed last minute.

Yum!  Chicken for tomorrow’s chicken salad.  I use chicken, grapes, pineapple, celery, curry powder and I don’t know what else – but we haven’t had it in quite a long time.

Tonight it will be chef salads with black olives, hard boiled egg wedges, cheese strips, and pre-cooked, fried chicken breast strips.  Super E-A-S-Y!!!!

    Be blessed  ~

  • Chirper has such beautiful eyes. I know what you mean about listening to the conversations of kids. They can be hilarious!

  • I kept Ares here all day on Wed – after taking him to the vet.  It was actually kinda fun having a kitten around again.  However, I still don’t want indoor cats.

Are you mailing any of those brownies or the strawberry crisp to me?!?!?!?    Happy weekend!

  • Those pics sure made my mouth water!!  It all looks delicious.  Have a blessed weekend, dear Cherylyn.
