  • Thursday Thirteen #33

No typical “Thursday Thirteen” today because I’ve been messed up on my days all week!  I don’t know why, but yesterday felt like Tuesday, Tuesday felt like Monday, so I’m thinkin’ today is Wednesday . . .   I have nothing prepared for a “Thursday Thirteen” and my brain isn’t awake enough to be creative!

Instead, I’ll give you thirteen pictures from yesterday and we’ll call it a “Thursday Thirteen” okay???!!!!

    1.
Chirper has found two new hiding spots that are his very own.  One is on the floor in the den on a blanket, by the side of the sofa.  The other one was hard to find, at first.  With cats, you can call and call and call them, but they usually don’t respond.  The only way we found Chirper was when the leaves of a plant  by my desk (in the foyer) were wiggling!  You might say, “Chirper is a basket case” these days!

    2.  The girls spent a little time outside, but Aolani isn’t used to the heat and frankly there was a lot of humidity.  I found them trying to teeter totter on a toy we’ve had since the girls could barely walk.  I don’t know why we still have it!  Our new pool arrived 2 days ago.  As you can see, the ruined pool is still sitting on the patio!

    3.  No one was really in the mood to smile for a picture, either.  They were moving pretty slow when I attempted a better picture!  I asked and begged, but this was as happy as they got!

    4.  I kept thinking I’d get some sort of interesting picture.  You know, they’d move or something? . . .

    5.  Jesse had been given a small trampoline by someone and they were thrilled when they saw it in the garage.  But, in the late afternoon heat, I really had to coax them to show me how high they could jump.  Annamarie was a good sport about showing me.  Doesn’t her poor little face look hot???

    6.  But I never could capture her feet up off the trampoline’s mat; which is when Rissy decided she could make that happen for the camera!!

    7.  And jump she did.  Rissy put the last ounce of her energy into her jump!

    8. But eventually, they all went back to their spots on the toddler teeter totter!  Rissy’s hair was plastered to her head from perspiration!  Actually, they all look like they were being tortured by being locked out of the house.  Honestly, we didn’t!  Aren’t these the most half-hearted smiles you’ve ever seen??? LOL

    9.  They decided to come inside.  They waited for dinner in a cool bedroom and watched a DVD movie.  I made tater tot casserole (which they loved) and cleaned up the kitchen.  Jesse went to bed early and that’s when the homeschool books came out.  (I seize every opportunity to throw in schooling)

JoAnn worked with Aolani who will be starting back to school September 2nd.

    10.  Annamarie practiced reading one of her books, a Dr. Seuss book called, “Go Dog Go.”  She’s done VERY well once she began reading sometime around the beginning of the summer.

    11.  Rissy grabbed a school textbook and read.  It’s the second level of the Dick, Jane & Sally books published in the early 1960′s.  She’s a better reader than that, but I don’t care if she falls back on the easier books once in a while.  I think it keeps her motivated and it’s more relaxing when you don’t have to keep stopping to ask about a word.

    12.  This is how I found Luci.  In bed – NOT reading!!!  She had taken a short nap yesterday afternoon, but I think the heat really wears them out fast:  O-U-T like a light is how I found her.

    13.  Well, GASP!!!!  I thought I had thirteen pictures, but I must have counted wrong.  I told you I wasn’t completely awake, yet!!!   “Picture” JoAnn and me sitting in the den all day talking, only stopping long enough to eat lunch or take a bathroom break!  We had lots to catch up on and lots to share.

Aolani’s dad is picking her up soon and she will be missed by our girls.  We have lots of heavy thunderstorms around us and the weatherman on the news said it shouldn’t reach our area; but, it sure is looking dark outside!  I know Jesse is worried about getting caught up with his mowing, especially with the commercial properties he mows.  They are predicting rain for most of the next week.  That is a good thing because it means the grass will keep growing and the mowing season will lengthen.

We have no plans for today, except to return some rented movies.  And, if it storms, we may be stuck here for another day of gabbing!

We have to decide when (and if) we are going to Amarillo to see Jesse’s and JoAnn’s dad.  She was here in March and could definitely see a decline in him when I showed her pictures from Jesse’s recent visit to Amarillo.

I’m glad JoAnn is here.  I forget how much I really like her.  It’s good to have an in-law that feels like my OWN bloodline relative!!!!  (sweet)

  • I don’t care what you post — it’s always SO interesting and fun.  Thanks for sharing your family with me.  Hope you have another blessed day!  With love ~Judy

  • Glad you’re having a good time, even if it is so hot!  We’ve actually been very cool here, at least for the middle of August!  I think the highs have been just in the low 80′s.  I’ve got all the windows wide open & spend most mornings wearing a jacket & freezing.

I’ve got a couple of hanging baskets w/ the coconut liners stacked together out on my back deck.  Both Pride & Panther *LOVE* to curl up in it!  It’s so cute!

  • OH, your poor babies look so bushed in that heat and humidity. I had to smile at Luci’s “reading” time! I’m glad you are having some good “girl gab.”

  • JoAnn sounds just wonderful. I’m glad that y’all’re having such a good time together. I like Luci’s face in the first group picture. She’s such an imp. And Chirper is suuuuch a cutie!
