  • Sunday Shorty

Since it’s Sunday, I really don’t want to spend much time on here.  I could have waited until tomorrow to post these pictures, but thought some of our family members would prefer to see things sooner.

My father-in-law who is in a convalescent home recovering from hernia surgery.  He has an advanced stage of Alzheimer’s – thus the reason for a convalescent home.

And one more picture of him.

And this is him and Jesse’s step-mother together.  She’s done a great job as his caretaker for many years, now.

The center had lots of caged birds which made things a little more bright and cheerful.  I thought parakeets and cockatiels couldn’t live together without the cockatiels attacking the parakeets.  Apparently, that isn’t entirely true in each case!  These two look pretty happy together.

There was also a cage full of finches.   I chose to post just this one: a close up of a bird in her nest.

Rissy has done a great job learning basic photography this summer!

My family is back safe and sound and, yes, there are little pieces of “things” all over the house already!

  • Oh, nothing says your life is full and busy like those little “things!”

  • It is so sad when elderly people lose their minds for whatever reason.  I was watching a DVD recently about an elderly man who visited his wife faithfully in the nursing home.  She had Alzheimer’s and didn’t know him.  When asked why he continued to go, he said that she didn’t remember him, but he knew who she was.  I thought that was so sweet and poignant.

I’m glad your family made the trip safely, and trust you got some much needed rest.  Gotta go and get ready for evening service.

    Love,

    Judy

By any chance was that, “The Notebook” movie? I didn’t see it until last year and thought it was a wonderful story of devotion.

  • So nice that you could go and spend some time with him, what a blessing to be close enough.

  • No, actually it was in an episode of “DOC” that I have.  I have read some reviews of “The Notebook” and I think it might be my next purchase, however.

  • Cherylyn, You must think I’m “nuts”!  After I wrote the first reply, I realized that it was in an episode of “DOC”, and have tried every way I can think of to delete the first entry and it won’t go away!  Your father-in-law looks like such a sweet person, it’s such a shame that he has lost his mind.  Hope you have a blessed day.  ~Judy

Your “mistake” has been deleted. I wish we had he ability to delete our comments, just like some blogs given us the option of editing our comments!!!! I have a new (cheap) keyboard and mouse. The keyboard doesn’t want to type some of the letters – especially the letter “g” – and I’m forever missing typos I’ve made and then they are published for the world to see!

  • Well – there you go . . . the “t” is missing in my 10th word of my last comment. I may have to cut loose and buy a better keyboard.

  • I enjoyed seeing the pictures.  Riss did a good job!
