  • Friday Finale

Believe it or not, I only had ONE major change of plans yesterday and the whole day was pleasantly smooth.

Being the ever efficient person I am (NOT) these days, I had written down on a piece of scrap paper the days (Stephanie’s work schedule) I needed to watch JanaLyn and even carefully copied it to my appointment book calendar.  Then read the calendar wrong – a day off.

I thought I was watching JanaLyn Friday and Saturday, but Stephanie called yesterday morning asking if this was the day *I* was picking up JanaLyn or did she need to bring her to me.  What!!!?????!!!!!

So, that was the big change in yesterday’s agenda.  She was good as gold and the my girls all played nicely without arguing or running through the house like wild animals.  We made grilled cheese sandwiches and sliced apples for lunch.  They watched Little House DVDs in the den or did artwork at the kitchen table in the afternoon.  ALL in *one* place of the house and where I could keep an eye on them.

Stephanie met Chirper in the morning and came in, after work, immediately seeking him out to hold him.  This is what happened next.  My first born with my newest baby!

Thinking this was too cute to not capture on camera, I covered them up.  It only momentarily bothered Chirp.

But, as you can see, my covering them didn’t bother him for long.  He settled back in for his snooze with Stephanie.

I did Jesse’s laundry and actually got around to the sheets on our bed.  I fixed lunch (uninterrupted!!!) and played (this time for real!!!) on the computer same games, etc.  We had chef salads for dinner with fried chicken strips.  Yum!

    Today’s agenda:

Go to Stephanie’s house around 1:00p with lunch.  She has to be at work by 1:30p and we have to be at the therapist’s office (just down the street from her) at 2:00p.  I figured we could all eat lunch to kill time, take bathroom and hand washing trips BEFORE leaving, and then head to the doctor’s office.  After that, we’ll come home and Stephanie will come get JanaLyn when she gets off work around 6p.

No great plans for the day other than needing an idea for tonight’s meal.  I may ask Stephanie to stay for dinner – depending on what I decide to make.  We had a surprise set of storms move through this morning and that’s put Jesse a little behind.  So, I don’t know if he’ll be here by dinner time or not.  I hate to fix a “great meal” and them Jesse have to eat it warmed over when he finally makes it home.  That’s why I’m rolling things around in my head right now.  Chicken is sounding like the best idea.

DHS (foster care unit) called yesterday.  The caseworker wants to come out Saturday.  He said he doesn’t work on Saturday, but was making an exception based on Jesse’s work schedule.  He found our file.  It was in their office all along, but at the desk of the gal who formerly came out a couple times to review us and our home.  He said she told him we were an exceptional family and home – one of the best.  Unfortunately, we’re still going to have to go to the foster classes and all-day anger management class – despite the fact we are excellent!!!  I knew this would happen if we closed our home, but Luci was really giving us problems at the time and I seriously didn’t think we’d ever be able to foster again – not with the time it took to deal with Luci.

Anyway, I guess tomorrow afternoon we’ll have our interview and inspection.  At least we have milk in the refrigerator this time!  Since I made the girls do slave labor on Wednesday, the house just needs a quick go over in the bathrooms and *I’ll* do the vacuuming this time!

I’m gonna get movin’ now, have a great day!

  • Aw…. cute pics!

Fortunately, I haven’t forgotten any appointments or anything here recently.  I pretty much get up assuming I have to take someone somewhere, so I immediately check my calendar to see if it’s anything but taking Caitlin to work…   I’ll be so glad when we either get her car fixed, or she finds a different one.  At least it’s only a mile away from home, so gas isn’t killing us!  (Ooooh!!!  It’s down to $3.88 here now!  Wootness!  )

    Happy weekend!

  • Cherylyn, One thing I found years ago that worked for me was to just make myself available to God each morning.  Then, if things didn’t go as I had planned, I considered it as God’s plan for me, and that really relieved a lot of stress,  and even if I was unable to complete MY agenda, I felt contented and peaceful because I had fulfilled God’s plan for me.  I trust that you will rest in His plans for you today.  Love, Judy

  • Such a sweet kitty! Seeing those pictures makes me want one. Such a sweet daughter! Seeing those pictures makes me….. oh! I already have 2! LOL! They just live on the other side of the ocean. I am glad today was a better day for you, my friend.

Luci is a totally different person – STILL!!!! Not one fit, not one tantrum, and a VERY minimal amount of whining. She got upset with me yesterday morning and I sent her to her room to cry. She was out apologizing within less than 60 seconds. I sure hope this works for a long while. I think her brain switches (shorts out in different places) and that might be the reason for changing medication so frequently. HOWEVER, this past week and a half have been the consistently best days she’s had, behavior-wise, since she arrived 1/13/03!

  • I saw your post on Shanda’s site and was wondering if you could pass on the name of the book you have that teaches children about chores. It sounds great!
