No Headache (Yet)
Last night it rained. It rained A LOT!!!! I think we got 3.5″ in our city.
I let my girls play outside in the backyard this afternoon. They asked if they could go barefoot so they wouldn’t accidentally get their shoes dirty. I thought, “What thoughtful children,” and agreed going without shoes would be fine.
I had relaxing music playing in the bedroom as I wrapped Stephanie’s b-day presents (June 12th) and Jesse’s Father’s Day gifts. All seemed to be going well.
Then . . . .
“THEY” came inside, alllllll the way back to the bedroom to tell me,
“LOOK AT OUR FEET AND LEGS! IT WAS AN ACCIDENT AND IT GOT ON THE CARPET!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
This was after most of the mud had been rinsed off.I have a white throw rug by the back door, which is (fortunately) washable and bleachable.
And we have (correction: used to have) off-white carpeting throughout the house.
This represents the trail from the back door (through my formal dining & living rooms, to my bedroom, to down the hall to their bathroom. They will have a homeschool Chemistry Class 101 on how cleaning chemicals react on what used-to-be white carpeting. Oops1 The can just ran out so now they are using a small amount of dish liquid soap in and a brush.
I simply
refuse to let this be MY problem today. I don’t want another headache
and, right now, I’m not sure I want any more children!Perhaps I’ll feel differently tomorrow.
I need to go find my box of chocolates.

Cherylyn,
At least it was just mud and not grease, or egg, or chocolate ice cream, or……
I’m sending you a CHOCOLATE CHIP cookie!! Will that help?
Love ~Judy
What a teachable moment!
They need to learn sometime!
Sharing my chocolate cupcake with you!
Tina
We’ve had one of those days for a couple of days now! Something must be in the air! Here’s a chocolate! Enjoy.
If they need some more cleaning practice, they’re more than welcome to clean up the Kool-Aid I spilled on my carpet! You know, for their education.
LOL POOR CP
Yep, they mess it up then they clean it up.
Can you imagine what their shoes would have looked like?
Jesse asked me, when he got home (laughing the whole time), “Didn’t you ever play in the mud when you were a little girl?” Indignantly, I replied, “NEVER! At least, certainly not like that.” I remember making mud pies but not rubbing mud up to my knees. That’s how they looked – solid mud from toes to knees. I guess I was more prissy than that. He just continued to laugh and said he had to call his sister JoAnn (the one who was here a few weeks ago) and tell her, because she used to EAT mud!
Oh, man. You should have seen Abby by the end of the week. She refused to wear shoes and the red mud was totally ingrained in her feet.
What fab pictures! And thanks for not putting the belly shot on there…man was that embarrassing.
