  • Sunday & Some Changes

Today has brought many changes.  Even though pending storms threatened to pour down on us, they mainly hit upper Oklahoma and the Kansas border.  Meaning, Jesse went to mow today because he has someone to help, things are dry enough to mow, AND it may rain tomorrow.  Sorry Lori K, you know how it is every year!

Anyway, I decided to post a few changes that have happened around here.

Rissy lost a third top tooth last night.  The 4th one on top is also loose.  Oddly  enough, Annamarie has developed a lisp over the past few months and has all her teeth.  Rissy is without 3 top teeth and doesn’t lisp AT ALL.  I don’t get it – I admit!  But I also don’t understand how Rissy is able to eat right now without food dribbling down her chin!!  Doesn’t she look proud???

    More Missing Teeth

She was also given glasses on Thursday to help her when she is doing her book work in school.  She was amazed at the difference the glasses made when she read!New Reading Glasses

While I waited for Annamarie to get her glasses, so I could show you HER new look, I snapped a pictured of my hallway to the kitchen, foyer, and formal dining room – the front door is to the left of that little hallway.  Bored, I guess!

Foyer, Kitchen Hallway, Formal Dining Room

Gads!  Look at that smeary mirror!  Amazing what you don’t see in your house until you see a photo.  Then you notice every smudge and piece of fuzz on the floor, etc.!!!!! (like the wires under the curio cabinet showing and the replastered wall area by the dog bowls in the hallway)

Okay, moving away from what’s WRONG with my house, now it’s Annamarie’s turn to show off HER new look!

    Annamaire's New Glasses

    And, her second picture . . .

    Annamaire's All The Time Glasses

She will have to wear her glasses all the time.  Right now she is getting used to them and wearing them for a while and then taken them off for a while.  I guess she’ll be okay within a few days – wearing them all day long.

Believe it, or not, I spent almost all day, yesterday, cleaning my desk top off, AGAIN!  I’m not finished, but should be done later today.  Can you believe how quickly this becomes a catch all, no matter how hard I try?  I think a bunch of the clutter is because I’ve been gone so much lately with Stephanie and JanaLyn, so the house has been at the bottom of the list!

    My desk = A mess

Then there is THAT KITCHEN BAR, again!!!!

    THAT KITCHEN BAR!!!!

That’s a ziploc bag of four zigsaw puzzle pieces.  They were so mixd up, I figured one big bag would be easier than trying to sort them back into boxes.  Besides, with my children, they never stay in their correct boxes anyway!  That’s a raspberry coffee cake and 1 1/2 chocolate graham crackers on the counter, along with my folded  (uh?) clothes.  Jesse left his coffee mug for me to wash (our sink is about 5 feet from where he set it on the bar ( scratching my head and rolling my eyes, wondering WHY those last 5 feet were so hard to reach!), and, standing up against the side of the bar, is Rissy’s new cherry wood shelving unit.  I hope to assemble that today.

Keeping that bar cleared from ANY clutter is almost impossible because, other than the counter area over the dishwasher (where the coffe pot, blender, and cutting boards sit), there isn’t much cooking area left to work with.  It isn’t like there is another work space to choose.  There is only the bar and that’s where everything is put – from the laundry to leftover snacks to preparing meals  . . .  The kitchen is one of the few things I dislike about this house and have disliked from the moment we saw it – but it was a very reasonably priced, large 4 bedroom home.   So, we bit!

My laundry was caught up yesterday and I sprinkled the carpet with Glade carpet freshener (Peaches & Petals) but never got around to vacuuming it up.  Poor dog has been rolling in the carpet and then sneezing!  We need to run a Swiffer duster over the furniture, etc. and clean the bathrooms today.

Oh!  The bathroom!!! . . .   The toilet kept running in the girls’ bathroom and I knew the ball cock had to be adjusted and I even tried to bend it up to stop the flow of water.  No luck.  But Jesse, being stronger than me (and having NO handyman skills), bent it last night and the metal holding the rubber ball broke – so we are a one bathroom house until someone can go get the replacement parts.  I hear it’s an easy job, although I’ve never replaced one before.

Isn’t life just full of glorious opportunities to learn???

Don’t ask me about dinner, I can’t even decide what to pull out of the freezer, and it’s already 11am!  A decision will need to be made soon, or Wava the Wafflemaker will be pulled out to “do her thing” – which no one will be disappointed in eating!

  • Dear Cherylyn,  I know you don’t want to hear this, but enjoy these days when clutter piles up and mirrors are smudged.  When you are alone, you will wish for some of those times. back again.  (I guess you can tell what kind of mood I’m in today!!)

The girls look so nice in their new glasses!!  They must be proud of them.

Rissy’s missing teeth reminded me of a time when a brother-in-law and his family visited us.  The youngest little boy just had his four front teeth.  It was so cute to watch him try to eat.  He would put food in his mouth, then hold his little hand in front of his mouth to hold the food in while he chewed.

Have a blessed day with God.  ~Judy

  • Tell Rissy she needs to hurry and get those teeth to grow back in or she won’t be able eat sweet corn on the cob this summer!
Jayberry had one grow in up high and now the one right beside it is also doing it too. :(
The new teeth are trying to come in before the baby one is even loose or ready to come out!
Looks like he will need braces some day to correct the misplacement!
The girls look great in their glasses. If I remember right, there came a day that we had to tell JayBerry, “Ok, you should be use the new glasses now and need to keep them on all the time.”
I can keep up with my house better now that I am not going to work. JB can straighten things up quickly under my direction. He is also not allowed to do any craft projects right now as he can soon make a mess when he does!I know what it is like to be busy and things get out of control fast!
Have a good rest of the day>
    Tina

  • I also think the girls look great in their glasses!  There is always something that needs cleaning, huh? It never ends!

  • Please tell Rissy and Annamarie that they look fabulous in their new glasses!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @DanishDoll -

And you won’t believe what I ended up doing today. NOTHING I had planned.

    1) Annamarie forgot she wasn’t supposed to use her restroom and did #2 in there. I had turn on the water so the tank would refill after I flushed. That’s when I noticed she had wiped herself and put the soiled toilet paper in the TRASH CAN! GROSS!!!! I made her carry it to our bathroom and flush it there. She has just started doing that – I don’t know why (yet I don’t know why she does many of the things she does) She has been in trouble so many times after we were first very patient telling her, “FLUSH toilet paper!” While waiting for the tank to refill, I had set the tank lid on the sink’s counter. Sure enough, the tissue box cover (I think it’s made from resin, from Wal-Mart, but still not particularly cheap) fell to the bathroom’s tile floor and the top of the box broke off. A big-time break, like 1/3 of a corner and the sides. I super glued it back together, but I’m not sure how long it will hold. I finished my janitorial duties and arts and crafts project of gluing the tissue cover box back together.

    2) I was frustrated and brainless as to what to fix for lunch. So *I* being the healthy cook I am, made Spaghettio’s for lunch. Even with the Corningware lid, it exploded all over the microwave. Remember, I just cleaned that on Thursday????

    3) For novelty, we locked up the cat and let the bird out on the table while we ate – something she’s NEVER done before. It was so much fun to watch her visit each place mat, and I soon forgot about my toilet woes, as I laughed at how cute she was being.

    4) Then I started to vacuum and noticed my vacuum wasn’t picking *anything* up. I decided to take it apart “quickly” (ROFLOL at that thought) to clean it. It was full of enough crud (I don’t know how my family actually produces this type of “crud”) and there was enough pulled out of every area of the vacuum to stuff a small travel pillow. As I reached for the tool box (up high) to get a screw driver to remove the vacuum’s lid, I moved the candy jar and the lid fell to the tile floor and broke into numerous pieces. THAT’S when I noticed Rissy hadn’t swept the kitchen floor AT ALL – the only job I asked her to do today. I cleaned up the mess singing the song from Annie “Little girls, little girls, day and night I eat, sleep and breathe them . . .”

    5) Then I went to work on the vacuum cleaner. That’s how I spent the next few hours. I kept thinking, “just buy a new one – this is crazy” and the mechanical side (and frugal side) of me said, “Now c’mon, you can fix this!” I don’t want to even begin to guess how many dust mites (and the Lord only knows what else) is now living inside my lungs. I finally got it to work and vacuumed the den, formal dining and living rooms and the canister (a bagless version) needed to be dumped after those 3 rooms! So did I. The vacuum is sitting in the back of the house, cooling off, while I sit here at the computer with some relaxing music playing and cooling off a bit, myself! Cleaning my vacuum cleaner for 2 hours was NOT on today’s agenda. I looked at the clock thinking it was probably close to 6pm and I should pull something together for dinner. But, it was only 2:30pm!!!

So I now identify with that phrase about “so much for the best laid plans” – or however it goes!

The kitchen floor is clean, the dishes done, Rissy (who felt really bad about not sweeping the floor) took Lemon Pledge and dusted the furniture and got the high spots with a Swiffer duster wand. Annamarie (did her best to) clean the bathrooms. I’ll have to go in with a wet sponge to get the Comet residue off, but things are better than they were – just not exactly like I expected them to be!!!!
