  • Friday Late Edition

Here is how my Friday turned out.  I could have written this all tomorrow, but things are quiet around the house and this might be my best opportunity!

We picked up and JanaLyn & Stephanie and got Stephanie to work by 11am.  We left there to go to a Super Target that I don't usually go in because I'm not in that area of town.  I didn't buy enough skirt hangers the other day and they have the style of the ones I like the most.  We all went to the bathroom when we first got there so THAT problem would be solved - yeah! of course! - just like always!

We browsed around the store.  I bought some gift wrap paper I thought was pretty (I collect THAT kind of paper, too!) and one gift bag with pearls for the handles instead of the usual paper handles on a gift bag.  I looked in the linen department and found a stack of white kitchen wash cloths (maybe a dozen???) for $2.99.  I use only white in the kitchen because they can be bleached and sterilized.  When the stains don't come out, they become dust rags, etc.  I looked in children's shoes and found nothing (looking for flip flops without the thingy that goes between the big toe) and then looked in the toddler clothing section.  Of course, that's when two children had to go to the restroom AGAIN.  Rissy took whoever had the problem (I think Luci).  They were gone for what seemed like a very long time.  When they finally reappeared,  Rissy said they had to ask directions  (Rissy's my self-sufficient one) back to the toddler clothing section, since this is a very large Target and she isn't familiar with its lay out.  Anyway, I found some shorts and tops for JanaLyn for $4/piece.  It was a little past noon when we left there.

We drove directly to McDonald's (my most very favorite place in the whole wide world it eat  !!!) and we did our $10.70 lunch that's become standard fare if we all go to McD's to eat.  The rule: You don't get to play until you finish your lunch.  Guess who talked the entire time and still had 3 nuggets and a handful of fries when the other 3 were ready to play???

No, she wasn't thrilled that she was the last one at the table!

My three stuffed themselves into a tube slide and posed for me before turning wild on me!  The "bubble chldren" are mainly mine, but not all of them.  I'm pretty sure we don't own any boys!

Next, they all  disappeared into the big slide.

It seemed an eternity while I waited for SOMEONE to appear.  Where did they go???  Were they swallowed up by the monster size toy????

    Aha!  I believe I see something resembling a child . . .

But, that's only one pair of dirty socks!  Where are the others???

    THERE they are!!!!

Plus one more bringing up the rear !!!

Once again, we (not MY children, but my granddaughter) broke the McDonald's sock law!!!

I got one last picture (WITH their shoes on!!!!) before it was time to leave for the girls' therapy appointment.

Our therapist was running early (yay!!!) and so she saw Annamarie, then Luci, then me.   Her parting words to me were "You are doing such an excellent job," which rang like music in my ears - because that's not at all how I feel.

From there is was time to go to Lowe's to buy a new toilet seat and lid for the girls' bathroom toilet.  I don't know what it is about this house (and I assure you I've weighed the same amount for about 15 years) but the master bath toilet seat has broken (literally cracked) 3 or 4 times and when I was in the girls' bathroom this morning THEIRS cracked.  It's embarrassing!  So we got some samples of paint chips to see what colors we might want to paint the bedrooms, then made another bathroom stop (do these bathroom stops wear y'all out as much as they do me???!!!) and bought the toilet seat.  I was really
exhausted from correcting JanaLyn all day.  She isn't used to "our"
rules and at one point when she was told not to touch anything (after coming from the batrhoom trip at Lowes) and to hold
Rissy's hand, she used her other hand to poke holes in all
the cellophane packaging we passed.  Instinctively I smacked the back
of her hand.  I can't believe I did that, but I was full-up of JanaLyn
and her smart mouth talk.  I just don't tolerate sassiness.  I told her if she didn't obey I would spank her when we got to the car.  Her only comment was, "Granny, are going to tell my mom and dad that I didn't mind you today?"  I DID tell Stephanie later and she said she can't figure out what's up with her lately, either.

We had a half hour to kill before picking up Stephanie.  Lowe's was in the same parking lot area as Bath & Body Works and so . . . Yep!  you got it! . . . we went to PetSmart (which is also in the same parking lot) for 30 minutes.  Didn't see anything I wanted to buy this time (big surprise!!!) and we picked up Stephanie at 4pm.

From there we all went to grocery shop at Wal-Mart.  I always go between 2:30 & 4:00 when most people have left to pick up school children and no one who works is off work yet.  Trust me, arriving at 4:30pm is a BAD (VERY BAD) time to shop on a Friday.  Plus, we checked out at 5:45 and there were only 3 check out lines open.  WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??????

We took Stephanie, JanaLyn, and their groceries home and the 3 girls and I headed to our own home.

When we pulled into the driveway this is what we saw

So, all of you peony guessers were right!  We bought this house in fall of 2004 and I don't remember this bush being there, maybe the hot summer sun had shrunk it down to nothingness.  So, Lori K, I have no idea how old it is.  I buried my nose in it and detected a faint, sweet smell.  It is a small bush and has maybe a half dozen blooms on it.  One good rain will turn them all brown and rotten looking.  That's what's happened in the past.

We hauled in the groceries and I had made the executive decision to just make hotdogs and eat chips for dinner.  I could barely manage thinking about doing that much.  I went to the garage to put away a bunch of the groceries.

Rissy, being the cook and "helper child" she has always been, took over the kitchen and when I came in from putting the frozen foods in the freezer and the chips and cereals on their shelves, etc., this is what I found . . .

She turned 7yo on Feb. 27th and this is the exact kind of helper she was last year (when she was only 6yo) when I was so ill.  Tonight, she told me to go sit down and she'd call me when she needed me to reach the paper plates (which are stored too high for her to reach).  She called me, after a while, and I found relish, ketchup, & mustard setting out on the counter, along with some Fritos and Cheetos.  Bless her heart - that's all I can say.  She's just an angel to me!

So here I sit, still tired and thinking I should get into my nighgown early.  Jesse said he'd pick up something to eat for himself and not to worry about fixing a plate for him.  Bed and TV or a book I've been reading (forever) sound very appealing right now!

All that's left for me to do is fill the coffee pot for in the morning and cover the bird's cage.  Hmmmmmm . . . I just may do that!

  • Looks Like a Busy Day

This morning started off with Luci hollering and Jesse telling her to hush and go to the guest room.  Apparently she was hitting Annamarie and finally kicking her in their bed.  He separated them, but enough noise had occurred that I wasn't able to fall back to sleep.  I guess I'll take her old bed (still in the "new" guest room) and move it into the girls' bedroom to see if separate beds might stop the provocation problem with Luci.

It looks like Stephanie will work from 11 - 4 today.  Bath and Body Works is famous for scheduling and then cutting hours; OR, putting someone on call and letting them know that morning, AFTER the store opens, whether or not they need to show up.

She said they told her last night they would probably need her.  So, I'll pick her up around 10:30 and do SOMETHING with the 4 little girls.  Maybe we'll visit PetSmart again.  The employees will soon know our first names, we're in there so often!!!!  It's so very hard for me to not walk out of there with a kitten!

Lunch will mostly likely be at McDonald's (gag) and I'll let them do the play area thing, again.  I can buy lunch for all of us at McDonald's for $10.70.  I tried CiCi's pizza, once, and it was a little over $20 with equally nasty food!

Annamarie and Luci now split the Friday one hour therapy appointment, instead of going twice a week on Thurs. & Fri.  I changed that effective May 1st.  It saves on gasoline.  That's at 2pm, so afterwards I'll have time to do my shopping at Wal-Mart.

There is a Lowe's and a Home Depot close by, I might stop in there, instead, to collect paint chip colors for the rooms we want to repaint.  It all depends on if Stephanie has some grocery shopping to do, too.  If so, I'll wait and do the shopping after I pick her up from work.  Thankfully, we don't need much from the store.

Our government check arrived today in our bank account.  We don't really need it for anything, the bills are all paid, but it's nice to know it's there.  Seems like it took forever to arrive, but, hey! - you shouldn't kick a gift horse in the mouth, right?

Maybe I'll capture some cute pictures of the girls today.  I've been looking at new cameras and have had the breath taken away from me when I saw how expensive they were.  To get another Canon EOS, but a digital version, would be around $600 or $700 for the body alone.  They advised me that I should really replace the smaller lens (mine is 35 - 70mm) because digitally the lens should start at 20-something.  The guy said my larger lens would be okay for telescopic pictures, but a new smaller lens ran the price up to $900.  Seeing that we need carpet throughout the house and either our den furniture cushions wrapped (to plump up the saggy cushions) or all the furniture replaced, the camera looks like the song, "To Dream the Impossible Dream . . . "

Oh, also, the peony plant flowers, that two of you identified, is starting to open.  There must be a fertilizer it needs to open up pretty, healthy flowers.  The ones my bush produces don't look very healthy - not like other people's flowers I've seen.

I better get a move on if I'm going to have 3 girls and myself dressed and ready to go in an hour and a half!

  • P.S. To Thursday

    The answer to "what's up with the sunglasses?" from yeseterday's post/picture . . .

They all had just returned from the eye doctor after having their eyes dilated and they *claimed* they needed to wear the sunglasses in the house, too!

Annamarie will need to wear glasses full time and Rissy will need them for bookwork.  Rissy didn't take the news well, she cried and said she didn't want glasses.  We explained it was mainly for school work or coloring books and she cheered up after that.

They should receive their glasses in about one week.

  • Thursday Thirteen #22

    Thirteen Things
    I LIKE ABOUT PAPER

    1.  Periodically we subscribe to the newspaper.  When the time comes that all I find myself reading is the obituaries, the comics, and "Dear Abby," I cancel it for a while again!

    2.  I prefer to receive bills in the mail, rather than JUST via email.  I guess I'm a touchy-feely (tangible) person!  Plus, I like that paper back-up in my files.  Which is also why I had to recently purge my files of electric bills from 8 years ago!!!

    3.  Paper is made into CASH!!!  And who doesn't like carrying around a little cash?

    4.  I collect boxes of stationery.  Besides having 3 types of "Thank You Notes" from which to choose, I probably have at least 5 other types of stationery to write notes.

    5.  I use spiral notebooks and steno pads for EVERY thought that pops into my head, EVERY business  phone call I make, and I take notes like my TO DO lists, my What I Ordered lists, etc.  I never throw them away.  I file them.  I've been known to retrieve the name of a great plumber we used 3 years ago, simply by looking through my pads (I date each page, by the way).

    6.  Paper comes in the form of greeting/birthday/get well, etc. cards.  I love receiving them as much as I love sending them to people.

    7.  I hoard receipts in my dresser drawer whenever I buy something that might need to be be returned.   You JUST never know . . .

    8.  I also enjoy calendars.   I buy myself an expensive one each year for the kitchen wall (Lang or Winget) , then I have one tucked under my computer's keyboard drawer, and also have one posted in my bedroom walk-in closet.  Doesn't matter how many times a day I need the date, I can NEVER remember it.

    9.  Paper is made into tissues, of which I'm using copious amounts these past few days.  My allergic reaction to our horse is now a full blown cold!  Atchoo!

    10.  Post-It Notes are my friends.  They keep me sane!  Don't you think they are one of the neatest inventions?  I've even stuck them to my steering wheel when I get out of the car to remind me to pick up a child!!!!  I know - my mind's a scary thing!!!

    11.  I use those long skinny pads of paper with the magnet on the back for my refrigerator grocery list.  We add something to it almost daily.

    12.  I collect pretty note pads that I keep on my desk.  I use them, but frequently feel like I'm ruining part of the decorations (knick knacks) on my desk!  Friends have given me some VERY pretty and lovely note pads.

    13.  The BIBLE IS PAPER.  The most precious book and form of rescue I have ever owned.

13 1/2.  I know this will be an odd statement, coming from someone who loves paper.  I would LOVE to own a paper shredder.  There's just something about changing the form of paper (I like to rip up junk mail!!!!) that seems enormously fun!

  • Aliens in Amish Dresses

My seamstress friend has requested pictures of the girls AND me in our new dresses and aprons.  We finally (all 4 of us) wore them today and Jesse was here to take our pictures.

Unfortunately the sunlight was coming through every appropriate place we could all fit in while standing!  So, I apologize for the glare!

Another shot of the fab four with the morning sun gleaming behind us!!

And, finally the last attempt at getting a picture without an interrogation lamp behind us!

Apparently the memo about wearing white shoes today never reached me!

I should make this last picture my "Wordless Wednesday" as my great friend Lori K.,  does each Wednesday.  She posts a picture with no explanation to anyone.  You just get to try to figure out what's going on!!!

So, does anyone have any guesses what's up with the shades??????

Hint:  They aren't aliens dressed as Amish folks.

  • Catching Up Today

I didn't do much of anything yesterday and even wimped out on fixing dinner.  Sausage, sauerkraut, and creamed corn - white bread on the side!  The truth is, I'm allergic to horses and I'm still having sniffles and scratchy throat problems today.  After I'm around something I'm allergic to, I begin to desensitize to the allergic reaction.  I guess that's what I get for rubbing my face against Mr. Bobo's face (now known as Buddy) and kissing him!

So, the washer is going full force today and the kitchen counters and floor has been cleaned, but I'm still sniffling and want to take one of those plastic back scratchers and scratch the back of my throat!!!

Yesterday, I read my camera's instruction booklet and spent a lot of time trying to become more talented when using the camera.  I'm not so sure the problem is all me, as much as it quite possibly is the limitations of my camera.  Not an expensive one - a Cannon Power Shot S2-IS.

Anyway, I played with the telescopic lens (be that what it may) and got these pictures of me sitting in the formal living room at my desk, looking into the formal dining room and then into the doorway of our den.

Then I played with the close-up focus and wasn't particularly elated with those results, either.

Yes, that's a family Bible and you can tell because of the small zig saw puzzle piece sitting next to it!  It's out there for EVERYONE, including little children!

I'm fairly sure an expensive camera is what I'll need.  I have a great Canon EOS 35mm and they said I could buy just the body of their digital version, but really needed to buy the lens that came with it, as using my smaller Canon lens will make digital pictures 1.6 times larger - or something like that. His camera talk was over my head and it was much like talking to someone about computers - might as well have been in the Greek language.   At least the biggest lens I have for the Canon will work with the new Digital Canon.  The price is still way up there, no matter what I do.

Here are my Mother's Day gifts.  The girls told me all day yesterday (a day late, already) to please, please, please, hurry up and open them.  I waited for Jesse to get home and finally gave up waiting for him.  As they were piling their gift sacks around me - he walked in.

Annamarie found a HUGE purse with lots of compartments - something hard to find that I NEED desperately!  She also found an inexpensive clock for my bathroom.  Mine finally died.

Luci got me a cutting board with a hole to grip it when using it for the kitchen (a perfect size) a lemon candle, and some wash and lotion in the scent of Sunflowers (I think).  Anyway, it smells really fresh.

Rissy was the most excited because she's the child who really listens to people, remembers what they say, and has the GREATEST gift  ideas.  She gave me a precious aqua nightgown with teeny flowers and trimmed with white lace (just like HER, very girlie) and a box of chocolate truffles!

All of them made me two or more cards and each picture had two people holding hands, the people were me and the child who drew it.  Lots of bright colors and lots of thought went into their art creations!

These girls are fantastic.   They didn't have much money to spend so we stuck with Wal-Mart and Target and they really had a blast shopping and hiding the gifts in the cart and making me promise I wouldn't peek.  Even the check-out clerks played along with them, carefully hiding stuff quickly in shopping sacks!  I handed them tissue paper and showed them how to fluff it in a gift sack and they just giggled and giggled!

Well, anyway, that's most of the news for today.  I've booked eye doctor appointment for the three girls tomorrow morning.  The only one I've wondered about needing glasses is Annamarie because she puts papers and books so close to her eyes.  I don't know if she really has a problem seeing, or if she thinks she can put the book closer and the words will "tell her" what they are!

    Should be an interesting evaluation!

It's ground-beef somethin' or other for dinner tonight.

  • Peaceful Holiday and We're Still Celebrating

We took a long drive to Jesse's brother's house.  He and Sharon had invited us down for Mother's Day.  If we hadn't gone, they would have spent the day alone and Sharon IS a mother, besides being a super, sweet lady.  The drive was about 2 1/2 hours and Jesse was stopped by the Highway Patrol when we were a little bit past the halfway there mark.  I glanced at the speedometer and saw it halfway between 80 & 90.  The speed limit is 70 (gulp!).

The office said he clocked him driving 88mph and asked Jesse if it was a brand new truck (it's obviously is) and asked him what he had be driving previously before the new truck purchase.  Jesse told him a 6 cylinder Nissan truck.  Together they walked up to MY window to get Jesse's license etc. and I truly believe taking a look at me in my modest dress, with full black apron and white headcovering and his seeing 3 little girls in the back (all wearing seat belts with HUGE scared eyes) MIGHT have swayed his mind from thinking we were normal week-end speed demons!  He gave Jesse a warning (only) and told him to be careful because, "these bigger engine trucks can get away from you before you realize how fast you're going!"  Whew!  Thank you Lord!  He drove the rest of the way using the cruise control!

Frank's & Sharon's place is tucked in a wooded area around Lake Eufala.  Very pretty & peaceful

Uncle Frank has the neatest grill.  The side he was using was gas (propane) and the closed half was for using charcoal.  It even had a side (on the left) warmer plate.

My girls have all been  trained to help in the kitchen and I really think poor Aunt Sharon might have had more help than was necessary, or at least *wanted*!!!!

While my girls did slave labor inside (!!!) I went to the backyard to try to capture a female cardinal with my camera.  She wasn't interested in coming back to the feeder after she saw me, but Jesse was able to capture her with our limited zoom lens at the top of a tree.  Because of the distance, she could have just as easily been a martin or dark chicken!  The bird picture leaves a lot to the imagination, doesn't it?

I did get pretty photos of the miniature flowers that laced their grass everywhere (me being gardener-challenged, these were probably just weeds!).  These were the size of a dime and had a bit of lavender color to  quite a few of the petals, but my camera refused to capture the lavender

Luci was a bit intimidated, but Annamarie and Rissy adored the dog, Apollo and I think adoration was returned!

He's a great guard dog and has a sweet disposition.  He's a Rottweiler (sp?)  & Labrador mix. Isn't he pretty?

After we ate hotdogs, hamburgers, smoked chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese, and tossed salad, we were ready for more of the outdoors.  Frank called his neighbor (the one we gave our horse, Mr. Bobo, too) to tell him we wanted to come on his land and see the horse.  His daughter met us in the pasture closest to the road.  She's a darling 14yo girl named Angel and I thanked her for taking such good care of him and allowing us to visit.

Mr. Bobo saw me and immediately tried to get through the rungs in the gate to nuzzle my face.  He buried his face near my cheek and the hair above my ear and just sniffed and sniffed.  Not an attractive picture, but his urgency to get to me broke my heart!  Then he saw Jesse and the girls and he began to throw his head around and prance with his feet.  He was so excited to see us.

Here is Angel, his new owner, who renamed him Buddy.  She's a sweet girl and had lots of question to ask me about leading him, brushing him, saddle vs. bareback, etc.  He has a few horsey idiosyncrasies to put it mildly!  (That's Jesse in the background on his cell phone - which is forever stuck to his ear, these days!)

We visited quite a while and my three girls fed him carrot sticks and he was in horsey heaven!  It was VERY hard not to load him up and take him back with us.  But  I knew Angel loved him and was working with him daily and he was getting excellent care from her.  He has a huge pasture, in which to run, lots of grass to eat and they are talking about getting some cows.  He has been around cows before and would probably love the animal company!

    The look in
his eyes as Jesse began to load the girls into the truck and when I hugged him
good bye and began to walk away, again, tugged at my heart.  He's such
a pretty horse.  As we drove back to Franks, he galloped along side the
fence following the road our truck was on for as long as he could (tearing up, here) and nickered loudly when we were past the point of his pasture.

We drove left shortly after 4pm and the ride home seemed to take double the time. I almost fell asleep!  When we got home I just felt exhausted.  Jesse said he'd go get tacos or fried chicken (I wasn't really hungry but knew the girls would be) and so he ended up with a bucket of KFC and a free chocolate cake since they only had one chicken leg and had to give us the rest in the form of thighs.  We don't care, but I guess they felt the need to comp us a free cake.  And, since it was chocolate, I didn't protest.

Suddenly I felt drained and sat in the dark on the sofa while the girls threw away the paper plates, etc. from dinner.  The next thing I knew Jesse was waking me up.  I was so deeply asleep, I must have jumped a mile from the sofa cushion and think I might have screamed.  I barely made it to bed and was immediately back to sleep.

So, this morning, guess what is awaiting me????????

The Mother's Day gifts I was too tired to open when we got home.  Luci's is in a Wal-Mart sack because she had another fit the day before and tore her gift to me up into a thousand pieces.  She wanted another gift sack but I explained part of the consequences of throwing a fit would be the fact she'd have to "wrap" my gift in a Wal-Mart sack.  She whispered to each sister and Jesse asking them to please go to the garage and get another sack, and they all told her "No, you shouldn't have ripped the nice one you had."

    Ahhhh!   Being a mother!

P.S.  I just reread this and saw all of my typos, which I'll leave alone.  I was typing and trying to help Rissy make her first recipe (Mystery Muffins) all by herself, but I was interrupted with 92 million questions, anyway!

I forgot to include a picture of Frank & Sharon that I took as we were leaving their house.  These were the gracious host & hostess who invited our LARGE family to their quiet home!!!!!

  • The Reason I'll be Celebrating Mother's Day

I found out we are going to Jesse's brother's house (a few hours away) on Mother's Day for a cook-out.  I won't have time to post this in the morning, as we are leaving early.  So . . .

Here are the reasons I will be celebrating Mother's Day tomorrow

    Reason #1   My oldest, Stephanie

Reason #2  Nikki . . . and Nikki with my 3 youngest and granddaughter, Jaiden, a few years ago.

    Reason #3   Annamarie

    Reason #4   Rissy

    And finally, Reason #5   Luci

I could have carried things a bit further and pictured the dog, cat and bird; the laundry baskets of dirty clothes and my washer and dryer;  my refrigerator and pots and pans and dinner being served at the table, the vacuum and dusters, etc. etc.

But I think these five children are ample excuse to take a day off tomorrow and just relax!

    HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO EVERYONE!!!!

  • Addition to Saturday Activites

I forgot to mention the girls were all busy making Mother's Day cards today.  They also had a delightful amount of fun putting the Mother's Day gifts into gift bags with tissue paper.  I made myself forget (on purpose) what we had bought for me the other day - which was actually very easy, considering my lack of short term memory!

JanaLyn was thrilled to get her mother's package together.  She bought her a black iron clock to go in their living room, two halter summer tops, a box of chocolate truffles, and (she really wanted to buy this!!!) a package of breath mints!

It's almost time to pick up Stephanie and JanaLyn's gift is waiting by the front door.  Here it is:

I had to laugh when she told me, "Granny, I won't breathe a word about what's in that sack.  She'll just have to wait until tomorrow!  She needs to learn to be patient!"

  • Pictorial Saturday

This morning, I left to pick up Stephanie so she could be at work at 10am.  We (JanaLyn included) came back here to a breakfast of donuts and milk.  You know?  Those stale, cheap ($2/box) kind of donuts from Wal-Mart's bakery?  They WERE stale, as always, but no one seemed to mind.

That's JanaLyn, Luci with milk, Annamarie caught with a mouthful, and MY donuts and a cup coffee.

After eating all that sugar packed in the donuts, I turned them loose in the backyard!  Even our dog, Sampson, wanted to be out back to play with the girls!

Silly me, I decided to let our cockatiel (Tango Jo) out of her cage to play.  After snapping a few pictures of her I realized my supidity.

The hunter, the spy, the stalker, the CAT (!!!!) was still inside and watching patiently for a chance to pounce.  She was in the dining room, sitting on a chair under the table, which is the room right next to the den where the bird is kept.  She didn't miss one little peep or fluffing of feathers from Tango!

I never had to worry about Jesse-boy, he had been successfully trained to leave the "pet" birds alone.  I trusted him completely.  IF a bird flew by him, he immediately laid down on the floor on his side in a passive position.  I'm not so sure about Stormy!  Can you tell from the look in her eyes and the fact her whiskers are all facing forward that she was eager to eat poor Tango???

I bought some great things for Rissy the other day at Barnes & Noble. She is so eager to read and is reading a grade level above the rest of her work.  I love those little "Brain Quest" cards.  I've found them at Sam's before, too.  These Brain Quest cards were to help her with math.  The CD of "Annie" was for all the girls.  Well, it was kinda for me, too!

I have a question for those of you with outdoor interests and green thumbs.  Can you identify this bush?  The flowers they produce look a lot like a peony, but not fragrant.  Kind of a white with pink tinges and fairly large in size.  I even wondered if they were a type of rose - but the flowers only bloom once.  I thought Jesse had whacked it down and killed it last year by accident and figured it was a goner.  But, it surprised me by coming back, and quite suddenly, this past week!  It has lots of buds that will soon open.  Can anyone tell by the leaves what this might be?

Finally, Rissy has picked up an interest in photography and asked to try her hand at using my camera.  I let her.  Mind you, my hair is just pulled back in an elastic and I'm not "really" dressed yet.

    Her first try:

    I  explained
to her the close up and distance focusing button and the fact she had
to hold the camera very still when she took a picture, or else it would turn out to be
    blurry.

Here's her second try.  She didn't have the most glamorous of subjects to work with, but that's ME - take it or leave it!

After looking at that picture of myself, I guess I should get up and do something about myself so I don't look quite so unkempt!
