  • The Irony

Remember how hard I worked this past week to trade spring/summer clothes for old winter clothes?

Remember all of the laundry I have washed to get pretty short sleeve and sleeveless dresses into the girls’ closets?

Remember all the lawn work Jesse has been doing, which includes our own yard?

Remember my “spring fling” bags April 15th?

Here is a picture of our morning.

Annamarie and Luci in their spring clothes watching a movie in their room.

Rissy in HER room watching a move AND coloring while wearing spring clothes.

Abandoned toys in our newly and nicely cut yard.  Sidewalk chalk drawings melting away.

A muddy throw rug I washed and bleached yesterday.

    “WHY?” you ask?

    “WHY the abandoned yard toys?”

“WHY the children indoors in their bedrooms?”

“WHY the muddy (newly cleaned) rug?”

BECAUSE IT’S A CLOUDY, 56 DEGREE, DRIZZLY DAY!
And, much too cold and damp to play outside.

    Oh, the irony!!!

It’s supposed to be 80 degrees today.  Maybe this afternoon will be different.  But, I had to wonder WHY?????  WHY I worked like a pack dog to get all their clothes switched out this past week-end!

After 15 minutes, they all came in from playing outside, and Rissy asked if they could all have a cup of hot chocolate!!!!

I’m thinking a BOX of See’s chocolates might help me!

  • Hahahahaha!!!!  I hate when that happens….  I remember last year, being soooo excited about warm weather & everything blooming, then we had a freak snowstorm & cold weather that came thru & pretty much killed everything.  At least some of them re-bloomed….

I’m doing laundry today & pulling out winter clothes that I know are gonna be too small next winter to get rid of them.  I need to start packing away the winter stuff that will still fit (maybe) next year.  Ugh…..

  • Yep, yep, yep!!!! See, that’s why I can NOT make myself put away the cool weather clothes yet! It’s SO cold here today!!!

  • I hate when that happens.   It is still a bit early to put our warmer clothes away here in Minnesota.  I am heading up north for a conference in Duluth and will take my winter coat as you can never predict the weather up there.    I usually don’t get the shorts out until after I return from there.

RYC;  As for meal planning…it really has worked very well for me.   I needed to cut back on our expenses and this really helped me to do that.  I try to keep our food budget with $160.00 for two weeks of food for the 5 of us.   I also buy on sales, etc.  How it works for me is I make my menu for the two weeks based on what I have in my freezer and if I see anything on sale or a discount, I buy it and it goes on the next menu.  I found this helps me to buy only what I need and not jsut what looks good at the time.  We don’t stick to the menu totally, we adapted based on our evening.  It is also helpful to have an idea of what is for supper and have the meat thawed before I get home from work.  I don’t get home from work until nearly 6:00 so I don’t have much time to get supper made, do homework and clean up.

For instance, last night Erik had church with his mom and ate there.  So it was jsut Tommy and at home for supper.  I was suppose to make pork chops, but I wasn’t going to do that for jsut us two.  Tommy and I jsut finished up the leftovers from our breakfast supper the night before.  I will save the pork chops for next week sometime.  It did take me a while to get a good system down, but now I can’t shop for groceries unless I have my menu and shopping list done.  For us it really did help us to save money!

Hope you have a great and warmer day!

  • Some days are just like that, huh? I know sometimes the really bad ones also seem to have my hormones spitting along with all the other stuff. I hope tomorrow will be better for you, my friend.   I looked through my summer stuff today, and I am kind of depressed by it. Thankfully (?) summer is short here because I have so little that is decent to wear. Our missionary budget really doesn’t have much in it for clothes, and they are very expensive here unless you can find something decent at the second hand. I guess I need to read my own post again and remind myself that what I wear for Him on the inside is more important. Blessings!
