Thursday Thirteen #18
Thirteen Things
I Tried to AccomplishRemember my list from a month ago about the thirteen things I wanted to accomplish? Well, here are the results of the things I successfully accomplished - or, didn’t.
1. Trade the girls’ rooms around. Completed. Yay! Even got the “new” guest room fixed up. We didn’t get to the painting of the guest room and the new room for Annamarie & Luci. So PAINTING is still on the list.
2.
Paint the hall bathroom taupe. Did NOT complete. It was a year ago since I bought the paint for that room. So, what else is new? LOL !! Painting the bathroom is still on the list. I did install the new shower caddy in that bathroom’s tub.
3.
Finish the mending on top of my sewing machine. That’s iffy. I didn’t actually mend anything, but I DID throw away the clothes that sat there so long they no longer fit my girls!!!! AND, I moved the remainder of the mending things to a cupboard that’s out of sight.
4.
Transfer excess homeschool materials from kitchen eating area to the
(now free) cupboard in Luci’s old room. I did it! And, everything looks nice in the kitchen and the cupboard.
5. Keep up with the junk that
accumulates weekly on my kitchen bar. I have done (not only) that; BUT, I’ve kept my desk top free and clear.
6.
Write a letter to the Department of Human Services regarding
Annamarie’s disability and ask for financial assistance for her care. Still on my list to do. I guess we’ll go without money a while longer! You’d think extra money would motivate me!!!
7. Clean and move around the placement of my
baskets of silk greenery. I’ve done some, so I guess that’s a :yes and no” to this chore item.
8. Shop for Annamarie’s birthday party
plates, etc. Shopped, decorated, had a party, and threw out the stuff afterwards!
9. Purchase shelves at Lowe’s (or some
such place) for extra storage in the girls’ new rooms. I may not have to do this. I think the two girls have plenty of storage in their closet without this purchase, and Rissy’s room also held more toys than I expected. Everything is in plastic bins and stacked in their large closets. Not purchasing the Lowe’s shelves will save us $210.
10. Have
the water spigot repaired/replaced in the backyard before spring is
here. That’s really Jesse’s job. And he hasn’t called his plumber friend. In the mean time, a bolt broke off of our master bath toilet last week and we rock every time we sit down. The toilet bolt and outside spigot will probably be fixed this week end.
11. Have the “bug man” spray for pesky ants BEFORE
they invade our house this spring. Jesse called the guy that sprays his yards for weeds and he said he could spray our house for ants. But, we haven’t seen him yet. He better hurry or we’ll be visited by many, many little ant people!!!
12. Get bids (and maybe
actually hire someone!!!) to paint kitchen/eating area ceiling. Nope! Haven’t really even thought about doing that. Too much of a mess with company here, and all.
13. Start swapping winter/spring clothes
from closets and attic for the girls. I haven’t done that, mainly because our weather turned really cool again and it hasn’t been necessary. After our company leaves this week-end, I’ll “think” about getting up into the attic to pull down warm weather clothes and purging the girls’ closets of winter things.I guess, all and all, I’ve gotten quite a bit done and the things left are very doable except for the painting jobs. But, those aren’t exactly impossible!
I think I’ll pat myself on the back because I HAVE gotten a lot done, had two sets of company in the month of March, AND thrown a birthday party! Good job, Cherylyn!
