  • A Friday Wrap

This is a refreshing feeling morning for me.  A little dismal looking outside, but I feel rested and rejuvenated!

Yesterday, I set the alarm for 4:30am so I could get dressed and take James to the airport by 5:30am.   He had tickets with Southwest Airlines and, since they had grounded their flights the night before (that inspection problem that was in the news), we were holding our breath as to whether or not the airlines would actually fly.  They did.  He got to the airport in the perfect amount of time (didn't have to wait and didn't have to rush).  He called me from Phoenix, AZ and again when he reached Tacoma, WA.  I'm sure he was glad to arrive home and sleep in his own bed, but he DID call last night to tell us "good night!"  I was dragging yesterday (I'm not a napper) with only 5 hours of sleep under my belt.  Beanie Weanie for lunch and Sloppy Joe's for dinner!  I made my day as easy as possible!  Got the bedding from James' room washed and that's about it.

Yesterday, we moved Rissy to her NEW room - the one James had been in.  All of her things are still not moved, but that's okay.  It will all happen in good time.  When I told her we had to get the room ready for the next person she looked at me - confused.  She asked who was going to be staying in there next and I told her, "You are!"  She gasped, looked around the room, and said it was like a dream come true!  Luci tried to sleep with Annamarie last night (we are waiting to move her bed) and she just couldn't do it.  She ended up back in her old room in the middle of the night.  We'll try again tonight.  Luci is always thrown when "change" happens, so, once again, she'll be fine in good time.

Jesse has started back to mowing almost every day.  We're all adjusting to having him gone, again.  This winter was nice, but the money is running out and it's time for him to work.  I have to train myself to not ask when he'll be home each night.  What finally worked for us last year was for me to serve dinner WHENEVER and for him to eat when he arrived home.  I'm a planner, so I HAD to have a plan and that's what we came up with.  I've never been one to eat without him (I've always waited or adjusted my cooking time to his arrival time) and it was causing problems.  He felt pressured to hurry up and get home, and I felt irritated when food was ruined by being kept warm while we waited and waited and waited for him.  Sometimes I'm just too rigid (a thing I constantly work on overcoming).  Organization is a good thing, but you have to be able to bend easily and I don't.

Rissy had to go to the doctor on Wednesday.  We're hoping this is just a cold and doesn't involve her lungs.  March is the month she has the worst problems.  This is the month she was hospitalized 3 years ago and transported by ambulance on oxygen.  This is also the month, last year, she turned blue in front of us while her airways began to shut down, again.  With the help of our pediatrician, we were able to administer help and avoid another E.R. trip.  She says she feels better today (just a draining nose) and I hope so.  She has a steroid prescription waiting to be picked up to keep things from becoming inflamed this time.  I need to grocery shop and today is the best day (weather-wise) to do it.  I'll try to make the trip quick so she isn't out in the air much.  It's everyone's consensus that she is allergic to something that pops out every March.

Tangi's husband, Aubrey, is doing better.  He is trying to go to work a bit each day, but she said he comes home and heads right to bed.  He's exhausted, which is understandable.  He is still having quite a bit of pain, too.  He had a routine check up yesterday, but I haven't talked to her to find out how things went.  She is trying desperately to get caught up with everything that needs to be done around the house and find a routine, again.  Of course, next week is spring break for the children and won't be conducive to "routine," but it will mean fewer things she'll have to do.  The cards that everyone sent him (and are still sending) has been so appreciated by him and her, too.  This will be a slow recovery until all pain is gone and all energy has returned.

Spring is so very close.  The past few days have been delightfully pleasant, the next few days will be on the cold side, and Monday - Wednesday of next week will be stormy . . .   That is SO like Oklahoma's typical spring!  That's why I want to do the grocery shopping today.  Besides, going to Wal-Mart on a week-end is AWFUL!!!!  Tomorrow we can cuddle around the fireplace and bake cookies.  Rissy will help with the cookies, but I may not be able to pry her out of her new room!

If I'm going to go shopping (and expect my children to be wearing clothes and have their hair fixed), I guess I should move on from here and crack the whip!

  • Glad James made it home safely!

Camryn is also allergic to something, starting in the middle of March.  A couple of years ago, she had an allergy induced asthma attack, so we make sure she always carries her inhaler (which she rarely ever uses), & starts taking her allergy meds the beginning of March.

    Have a great weekend!  ~Lori
