  • Oh, Yay for Today!

    I've ended up with the girls' cold.  I started feeling that scratchy stuff in the back of my throat when I was getting ready for bed last night, and, this morning it was a full blown winter cold.  I told Jesse that I wished I was young, like the girls, and could run around here sniffling and playing at the same time.  But, everything hits me harder (since I'm older) and especially since I was sick last year.

    I put a turkey in the oven this morning (yes, I'm trying again!) and we had Campbell's soup for lunch.  The girls have helped me clean today.  Luci stayed home from daycare yesterday and today because of her cold, so she hung out with Rissy while she cleaned and she received explicit instructions from her older sister!  Believe me, I heard IT ALL!!!

    Jesse went to lunch with his brother.  They met their aunt who had an hour break for lunch.  Then, he dropped his brother back here at the house and went into a friend's pawn shop to help him for a few hours this afternoon.

    My house smells like Pine Sol and everything has been dusted and vacuumed while I sat around all day blowing my nose or sneezing.  The Pine Sol has done a number on my throat.  REALLY scratchy, now!  I'm looking forward to instant mashed potatoes, green beans, extra sweet corn, and sweet Hawaiian rolls with my turkey.  I CAN smell the turkey a bit - an improvement from this morning, when I could smell nothing.  I'll watch "American Idol" tonight and continue to be a slug, and maybe tomorrow  I'll experience a miraculous recovery!

    We're having very cold temperatures and I'm so grateful I don't have to be anywhere out of the house today.  Jesse said he'd take the girls to their Thursday and Friday appointments if I still don't feel well.  We're fully stocked with groceries, so in my chair (or on the sofa) I sit indulging myself in laziness!

    P.S.  Jesse-boy is moving around a little better today.  I think the steroid shot has helped him a bit, although his tail still drags on the ground.  Poor little guy!

  • Awww...sorry you got the cold again. I give Rich and I, a Selenium and Zinc every day along with our multivitamins. Selenium is an anti cancer fighter and Zinc...well it is in sore throat lozenges, etc so there must be something good in it! So far last winter and this year I have noticed less colds! And it isn't like we have a warm house! Seems to be working for us.

    Did you get the vests I sent last week?

  • I'm glad that you can stay in with your cold and out of the cold.

  • Every time I've tried to come over here in the last few days, IE has closed down on me.  I'm happy that I can "stay" today!

    I hope you're feeling better today!  I think we're trying to get a cold here too.

    I can't use PineSol.  That's what we used to clean up puppy messes when our first dogs were young and it always smells like dog urine to me now.

    Poor Jesse-boy!  Give him a gentle squeeze and lovey from me.  He's such a nice cat.

    With regard to the "using the same dishes" thing from last Thursday, I do the same.  Doug doesn't and it always messes me up when he uses the "wrong" bowl for something.  Now that I have some of my mother's and grandmother's dishes, it weirds me out to have salad in the "Jello" bowl, etc.
