A Quiet Day
At the request of my husband, I am keeping things low key today. He has to work until late and has requested that I "please, please, please" don't over do stuff around the house. He's already called once to be sure I wasn't sneaking big jobs into my day!
My plan is to put away the large cooking and serving dishes from Monday's cook-out (no one but me knows where those unusual items are stored) and to take a shower.
IF I'm up to it, I want to make a carrot cake (I enhance a box mix with raisins, crushed pineapple, nuts, etc.) and my plan for dinner is something simple with chicken breasts. All easy stuff, but not so easy on me if I do too many "easy things" one after another.
I have a return appointment with the doctor tomorrow afternoon. I have lots of questions. The foremost and first question is, "WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG??????" However, the way I will word the question to the doctor will be more like, "Am I still ill or am I recovering?" I'm not sure that, at this point, maybe I should be pushing myself each day to regain strength. I also will ask why I find it so difficult to talk. It's like I have continual laryngitis, which may simply be from all the inhalers I've been using.
I have decided to read more, which keeps me occupied in a resting position. I'm reading a 2 year diary of an Amish woman which is easy to pick up and put down and doesn't take a lot of brains to follow! The title is Sarah's Seasons and written by Martha Moore Davis. I have been showing more interest and stamina for reading meatier things. That's good and a sign that my brain didn't crumble up and die!!!
I just can't get into television. I enjoy the news and Jeopardy! and a few shows that come on here and there in the evening. Evening shows seem to be switching around as far as the nights they appear. At least I haven't found much consistency. I like Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader? but I think the shows are all reruns, now. My friend Tangi and I have decided the show's questions must be from gifted or honors classes. I sure don't remember knowing facts about the structure of our government when I was in the second grade!!! I think I was just coming out of the Dick, Jane & Sally readers!
I'm still excited about fall and our weather is, somewhat, cooperating this year. We don't have temps much over 90 degrees each day (mainly upper 80's) and the weekly rain patterns continue. That shortens the Indian summer we normally would be experiencing now through the end of October. I'm talking long, dry spells with muggy, hot temps and only cool (60's) temps in the mornings. Things have actually been pleasant this year. I've made Luci quit wearing her white sandals and change to her pink sandals and blue crocs! Something about that "not wearing white after Labor Day" I was taught as a child . . . !!!
This week, Rissy's been itching to clean house for me. She ran the Swiffer dry duster over the furniture, glass, knick knacks and picture frames yesterday. She woke up this morning and (barely awake) asked if she could vacuum. I told her "no" since it was 8:06 am and I wasn't quite ready for the noise! I took a broom to the kitchen floor yesterday. I can't be around chemicals at all (can't take a chance on inhaling them) and so I may have Rissy take the 409 spray and some paper towels and spot clean the kitchen and table area floors. She's the only child I know who begs to do housework and begs to have school lessons! I always enjoyed housework and maybe she'll be the same. I can't say I enjoyed school until I was much older!
Well, off to make myself an egg salad sandwich or some leftover charcoaled hotdogs and baked beans for lunch. Decisions! Decisions!

You are right that all those "easy" things can add up to a day of overdoing it. Be careful and take care of yourself.
