Hello! Hello! Anybody Out There?
This has been a weird Xanga week. Hardly anyone has visited my site (5 or 7 footprints a day, compared to 100+ on a daily average. And, no comments. I mean ZERO!!!
If you wouldn’t mind, please send a short comment like, “Got it!” if you are reading this. I’ve heard of weird Xanga problems where people’s blogs are dropped clean out of sight and people have to resubscribe. I’ve also heard that a couple of people have had someone leave ugly notes to their subscribers – making the subscriber think the blog owner has been rude or crass to them. Anyway, let me know. There hasn’t been much activity at all, as far as new posts by others, so maybe it’s just a slow Xanga time for everyone. I hope people aren’t abandoning Xanga and picking up Facebook, instead!

(See the little doggy around the corner of the loveseat?!)Jesse’s toe is VERY slowing improving. He still can’t wear a shoe comfortably and has to keep his foot elevated. He saw another doctor on Friday, who gave him two more prescriptions – ones actually used for gout, rather than him only take the pain pills the first doctor prescribed.
We didn’t go to church, today. Between Jesse’s medications making him ill and the fact he can’t wear a shoe and the church parking lot is muddy . . .
We stayed home this morning and are hunkering down, preparing for the next storm, due to arrive tonight. The last I heard, the ice shouldn’t be an issue, but there will be another very heavy snowfall. The snow has been gorgeous, but this time I will have to get out in it; and, I may not enjoy that part of it, as much as I do watching it from inside my house! My surgery is early Tuesday and it’s supposed to snow all day Monday. We will have to leave extra early to get the girls to their grandmother’s house AND allow for slow driving through the snow to get to the hospital. At least our Suburban has four wheel drive!
We are doing NOTHING for “Super Bowl Sunday” today. I used to buy “party foods” and that was our one day a year to eat good tasting, high calorie foods without worrying. I didn’t have the energy this year to plan any purchases, and last year we were super strapped for cash. Jesse is hanging his head (not really!) because there will be no “Super Bowl Sunday Food” – AGAIN!
I bought Rissy a couple of dresses and shirts on eBay for her birthday. I also bid on and won real American Girl dresses at a fraction of the price new. There is one American Girl doll coming up for auction tomorrow. If I don’t win her at a cheap price, we’ll spring for the doll new from American Girl. Annamarie has bought Rissy a little gift and Luci still needs to shop for something.
Speaking of dolls, I need to send our American Girl doll “Samantha” to the American Girl hospital. Annamarie broke her leg off a couple of months ago. She used to be Stephanie’s doll and is one of the original dolls made. They will fix her arms & legs, style her hair, and clean up her skin for $24. A VERY reasonable amount to restore her.
Anyway, there will be no big birthday parties for Rissy, anymore. In our family, those stop after your 8th birthday. She can pick out her dinner menu and flavor of birthday cake. That’s the extent of celebrating until one of them turns 13 years old! THIRTEEN??!!! That’s sounds so far away!
I look at them now and am amazed at how much they’ve grown. Yesterday, Luci was wearing a shirt that used to be Annamarie’s – years ago. I can’t even remember when Annamarie was that small!Yesterday, I was cleaning my dresser and found a picture of Luci from a couple of years ago and was amazed at how much SHE has changed! Where does the time go? Makes me want to be sure to not waste one single second of my life. So much happens everyday and then it’s gone forever.
The girls are continuing to make and disperse Valentines to each other, each day. This has turned into a very fun project for them AND for me. We rarely do “art” kind of things and I’m thinking we should incorporate art into our school lessons more often!
That’s about the all the news from around here. I continue to find small piles of junk to clean up here and there. Things sure pile up in a hurry if you don’t put them in their proper place immediately! I’ve read quit a bit this past week, too. I’m back into a reading mood, I guess!
Be Blessed ~
CHERYLYN

You will enjoy the experience of sending Samantha away and then getting her back in her hospital gown and holding a balloon! Grace has an original Samantha, too, I bought her at a tag sale years ago. One day, about 5 years ago, Grace’s lamp was tipped over and it melted Samantha’s hair (and thankfully did not burn the house down!)
Enjoy your Valentines~ I did not go to church, either. I was so tired. Seth and I stayed home and took naps.
Blessings to you today!
I hope you are getting your comments…because I usually do say at least a little something…let me know if you got this.
The American Girl hospital is so clever and will be a neat experience for the girls.
We finally made it out to church today, we had a few weeks in a row where we weren’t able to go for a variety of reasons and it seemed like it had been forever since we were there.
I do hope for Jesse that the gout will quickly go away, I don’t know much about it, is it one of those things that hangs on or is it treated and cured?
I’ll be thinking of you and praying for you with the upcoming surgery. Take care dear one! Love Dawne
I am seeing your sight…it’s still wonderful.
I am tired of winter, have been for the last 4 years, every since moving away from California.
Take Care and enjoy the restful time at home with your family!
Reading. And just neglectful.
Take care and get ready for the next storm!
Hey there, I have seen your posts,I have been reading in subscription mode…can’t sit too long because of my pinched sciatic nerve from the pregnancy. But I have had days like you mentioned where there were normally 40+ posts and then there were only about 6 or so….I just figured it was Xanga hiccups and they usually resolved in a day or two and were back to normal
Have a blessed afternoon!!!
I know what you mean. I posted every single day last week, including Sunday, & multiple videos & got 12 whole comments the whole week! Some of those 12 were my responses & re-responses… I continually wonder why in the world I bother to update every day, but keep telling myself that it’s for me, not everyone else. (Small consolation, I guess & I’m afraid it doesn’t really help a whole lot.)
For some reason, I have a hard time seeing any of your pictures. When I first look, all I get are white boxes w/ little red “X’s”. I don’t know if it’s just taking a long time to load them or what. (No, it’s not just your site either. Any site w/ pics it’s hard to see them.)
What is this surgery you’re having? I don’t remember reading about that before, although as crazy as the last 4 weeks have been, I might just not remember.
We’re supposed to get another 6 or 7 inches Monday night. I’m NOT amused…..
Hope Jesse’s toe is better soon!
*Of snow… I just realized I left that out…
(It was a very L.O.N.G. weekend….)
I am sorry to-I have been reading but not posting a lot-somedays i just have a few minutes and read thru and read–Don’t know which I love the most-the pictures of those beautiful kids or the ones of the cute dogs !!–Love them both–hope your surgery goes good !
I am here, I usually just read from my subscriptions page! I have kept Xanga so I can keep reading blogs, but I use WordPress mostly now, and facebook because that is where all my family and church friends are at right now
Yes…I’ve been reading your blog….
i have been reading. but not commenting. i’m sorry. sometimes when i go to comment, our computer takes SO long….and sometimes it’s just easier to not bother. :-Q comments are wonderful, i can’t deny it; however, i have to remind myself that i do my xanga post to leave a legacy. (how i would love to have a xanga post to read about my grandmother!)
gout. is. horrible. after making a trip to the ER, thinking i had broken my ankle, i was SHOCKED to hear i had gout! WHAT? prior to this, i thought it was a disease for alcholics. i’ve had 2 outbreaks since then….but, thankfully, my dr. gave me a prescription to keep….and take whenever i feel another onset coming. if you catch it soon enough with the meds, it goes away fairly quickly. at least that’s been my experience. did jessie learn that gout is the 3rd type of arthritis? (never knew that either). drinking cherry juice is supposed to help with gout, although i haven’t done that yet.
blessings and <3!
@chulya -
Jesse is curious what medication you were given to take at the onset of another outbreak. I think he has alopurinol and colcinche (something like that). The first doctor accused Jesse of being an alcoholic! Jesse told him he didn’t drink and the doctor sneered, “Yes you do!” Then Jesse had to pay him! Jesse also thought he had fractured his toe, but couldn’t figure out how! We’ve heard about cherry juice, and I bought some canned cherries on my last grocery trip – although he hasn’t tried them, yet. Thanks for any info you can give him!
@cherylyn_p - i just ran upstairs to get the medication so i was sure to get it “right”.
COLCHICINE for the onset of gout
NAPROXEN for the pain and swelling of gout
i have the highest sympathy for jesse…please tell him! my pain was not in the usual “big toe”. mine was in my ankle. i struggled with it for a couple days until i finally could not even sleep because i couldn’t get in a comfortable position. it was one of the worst pains i’ve ever had. i could not stand even a sheet to drape over my foot! any movement was just sensitively unbearable! and….then i couldn’t walk. i went to the hospital on crutches.
for encouragement….i have never, and don’t expect, to experience that ever again! the meds really work for me. like i said, i’ve taken them twice…at the first feeling of onset.
i am no stranger to arthritis. i’ve had double knee replacements 5 years ago. but gout (arthritis) is completely debilitating!
praying for jesse…..
Hey! I’m here. I hosted 21 people the Thursday and Friday and then got sick with food poisoning from our book study get together. We all got sick who were there and I still haven’t fully recovered yet! Enjoyed hearing about how you all are doing.
Blessings,
Tina
Hi There! I’ve not been around Xanga much this week for some reason. Not sure if it’s the snow or what! Hope you have a wonderful week!
Haven’t had tome to do any visits until today. I wish there was somewhere you could send me that would fix my arms and legs, clean up my skin and style my hair for only $24!
Hope Jesse continues to improve and that your surgery is quick, easy and effective! Maybe this next storm will miss you. We were supposed to get a “blizzard” last week, and I was actually kind of excited about it, but we barely got anything. With the ocean all around us the weather can change very quickly. Blessings on your Monday!
I am here….just neglectful! I do spend more time on facebook now. My hubby also gets gout at times, but it has been mild in severity so far. I hope Jesse is feelign better soon!! We are hankering down for a full day of snow, I think I might stay home instead of commuting to work!
Yes, I’m still out here. I do spend more time on Blogger and Facebook, I must admit. My kids made me have birthday parties for them FOREVER. Thank goodness their birthdays were only 3 days apart and they had the same friends, so we have one party for both.
I am on FB and I still read this!!
(I follow from iGoogle where I have a feed. actually Xanga won’t properly feed but I see the adress & come over frequently to see if there’s anything new)
How are you all today? Is Jesse feeling nay better? Richard had gout in his elbow once…he was prescribed Colchicine for it.
I thought of you the other day. Friends of mine were talking about this stuff for pain relief.

Praying your surgery goes well and Jesse gets better as well. Stay warm if you do get more snow!

So glad to read that you see the sweetness of each day with those growing girls! I wish I knew a hospital for my antique dolls! They have aged and need their limbs put back on. Since they are not played with it is OK, I can prop them up!
My husband had a prescription of allopurinol when we were in CA, too–it worked wonderfully for him!
I definitely read your blogs every time I see them–just don’t always comment!
I read your updates & always enjoy them. Blessings to you this week.
so sorry i’m just now seeing this~ been a tough week of sickness round here and i’ve not gotten around to my usual blogs like i enjoy doing.
we’ve got a bunch of American Girl Dolls that could use a trip to the hospital!!
i keep thinking, “one of these days…” maybe after the girls are grown and we go to pass them on to the grandbabies.
grandbabies sounds funny to even say.. but, when i look at how fast my kids are growing i know it’s going to happen way before i’m ready!!
love & hugs.
